On Avelo, one under-seat personal item is included; choosing a seat, bringing an overhead carry-on, or checking a bag can cost extra. Avelo’s published optional-service fees are ranges, not guaranteed prices for your itinerary, so check your reservation for the actual amount before you travel.
What Avelo seat selection costs—and what each seat includes
Avelo says customers can select a preferred seat starting at $10 or let the airline assign a seat. The $10 figure is a starting price, not a price for every seat. Avelo lists three seat types:
| Seat type | What it offers | Published price information |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Typical seat | Seat selection starts at $10; Avelo does not publish a complete seat-by-seat price table. |
| Stretch | Extra legroom | Exact price not stated by Avelo on its Optional Services page; check the itinerary-specific price. |
| Stretch+ | Extra legroom and an empty adjacent middle seat | Exact price not stated by Avelo on its Optional Services page; check the itinerary-specific price. |
Prices and seat availability depend on the flight. See Avelo’s Optional Services page for the seat categories and use Manage Trips to view or change a selection.
What baggage is included in an Avelo fare?
Personal item: included
Each traveler may bring one personal item at no additional charge. Avelo’s stated maximum is 17 × 13 × 9 inches (43 × 33 × 22 cm), and it must fit under the seat. Avelo notes that dimensions may vary by seat and aircraft. See its Carry-On Bags Policy.

How Avelo’s baggage fees vary by purchase timing
Avelo recommends adding bags during the initial reservation. Its checked-bag policy says airport baggage costs more than baggage purchased during the initial reservation. The airline also separates prices by booking stage; the exact charge depends on the reservation and route. The fee checker notes that displayed prices are for new reservations, while existing customers should use Manage Travel to see applicable fees.
- When booking, add any carry-on or checked bag you expect to need and review the total before paying.
- If you already booked, open Manage Your Trip to view or add baggage and see the price that applies to your reservation.
- Before heading to the airport, verify the itinerary’s baggage details; do not assume the public fee range is your trip’s charge.
How to avoid oversized and overweight bag charges
Avelo’s standard checked-bag limits are 50 pounds and 62 total exterior inches. Its Optional Services page listed additional charges of $100 for an overweight bag and $100 for an oversized bag; if a bag is both, the listed additional charge is $200. The checked-bag policy says bags over 70 pounds or 80 total inches will not be accepted.

Free baggage allowance for active-duty military
Avelo’s current policy pages describe one free carry-on and up to two free checked bags for active-duty military travelers with current active-duty military identification. Some flight embargoes reduce the free checked-bag allowance to one. Because the allowance can be affected by the flight, check Avelo’s Contract of Carriage and applicable trip details.
