No—not yet. Karnataka’s Cabinet advanced a proposal on October 6, 2026, for an increase of up to Rs 8 per litre, but the final consumer price and start date were not settled in the news reports available that day. November 1 was reported as a likely date, subject to a final decision and Election Commission clearance. If the full Rs 8 is passed on, Nandini blue-packet toned milk would cost Rs 54 per litre, up from the reported Rs 46; that is a conditional estimate, not a confirmed MRP.
Is Nandini milk getting Rs 8 per litre more expensive from November?
The Cabinet-level proposal has moved forward, but the headline’s wording should not be read as a confirmed price change. The Times of India, Moneycontrol and The New Indian Express reported on October 6 that the proposal had been approved or advanced, while The New Indian Express said Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had been authorised to make the final decision. The practical status is that a proposed increase is under consideration; the final tariff and timing remained pending in those reports.
November 1 was described as a likely start date, not a formal schedule. Legislative Council elections meant the Model Code of Conduct was in force, and reports said the state was expected to seek Election Commission clearance before implementation. An unnamed minister quoted by The New Indian Express forecast that the increase might be announced after the code ended on October 23 and could take effect from November 1. That was a reported expectation, not an official notice.
The coverage reviewed did not establish a final government, Election Commission or Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) notice confirming the price, effective date or clearance. Treat November 1 as tentative unless an official announcement confirms it.

What could the new Nandini milk price be?
The reported current price of Nandini toned milk in the blue packet is Rs 46 per litre. If the entire proposed Rs 8 increase is added to that price, it would become Rs 54 per litre. The Times of India reported both figures; Rs 54 is arithmetic based on the full proposed increase, not a confirmed retail price.

The final change could be lower, structured differently, delayed or not implemented. These figures concern blue-packet toned milk and should not be taken as prices for other Nandini milk varieties.

How is the proposed Rs 8 increase meant to be allocated?
Reports described a proposed allocation of Rs 6 per litre to milk producers and Rs 2 to milk unions. The New Indian Express reported that unions wanted a 70:30 sharing formula; final details were still undecided. The proposed split is therefore not a confirmed allocation, and it does not by itself establish how much of the increase consumers would pay.
Why are milk unions seeking a higher price?
Milk unions cited increases in cattle-feed, fodder, medicine, transport and plastic-packaging expenses, as well as drought-related fodder shortages. They also argued that Karnataka’s procurement price was below rates in selected neighbouring states. These are the unions’ stated reasons, as reported by The Times of India and The New Indian Express; they are not an independent audit of costs or a comprehensive comparison of state prices.

The Times of India reported procurement figures supplied by unions: Karnataka Rs 35 per litre, Andhra Pradesh Rs 41.50, Kerala Rs 41.80, Maharashtra Rs 41 and Tamil Nadu Rs 42.20. Moneycontrol reported Tamil Nadu at Rs 42.24, so the reports differ slightly. These are union-provided procurement comparisons, not comparable retail prices paid by consumers.
