A 2017 Telenor–Netflix partnership announcement said customers in 13 countries could pay Netflix subscription charges through their mobile bill. That is a historical statement, not confirmation that every Telenor customer can use carrier billing today. Availability and terms depend on the country and account; check Netflix’s local Telenor guidance before relying on it.
What Telenor and Netflix announced in 2017
On 27 February 2017, The Nation Thailand reported that Telenor and Netflix had agreed to work together across 13 countries. The announcement covered more than payment: it also described set-top-box integration and joint marketing. Telenor chief marketing officer Gunnar Sellag said the company could enable customers to subscribe to Netflix by having charges added to their mobile bill. The Nation Thailand’s report documents what was announced at the time; it does not establish present-day availability in all 13 markets.

Can you pay for Netflix through Telenor now?
There is no single answer for all Telenor customers. Netflix’s pages about using Netflix with a Telenor package and Netflix billing through Telenor require customers to select a country. The reviewed US view does not provide billing details. That country-gated guidance means current eligibility and payment steps cannot safely be generalized from the 2017 announcement. Start with Netflix’s “Using Netflix with a Telenor Package” page or “Netflix Billing through Telenor”, select your market, and follow the details shown there.
Three different ways Netflix may relate to a Telenor account
“Netflix through Telenor” can describe arrangements that work differently financially. Confirm which one applies before signing up or changing a plan.

What the current examples do—and do not—show
My Telenor in Pakistan
The Apple App Store listing for the My Telenor app, published by Telenor Pakistan, says users can pay for Netflix through the app. That supports the existence of an app payment facility as described in the listing. It does not, by itself, confirm that the payment is added to a monthly mobile bill, who is eligible, or what fees or cancellation terms apply.
CBB MIX in Denmark
On 23 January 2025, Telenor Denmark announced that Netflix was joining CBB MIX, a package in which customers choose and combine streaming services with a mobile subscription. In the announcement, Netflix Standard was included in the described base package and Premium was available for an additional amount. This is a bundled offer, distinct from direct carrier billing; those dated package details may change. See Telenor Denmark’s CBB MIX announcement for its description at that time.

How to check before signing up
- Select your country in Netflix’s Telenor help pages. Look for market-specific information rather than assuming the 2017 partnership terms still apply.
- Identify the payment arrangement. Confirm whether Netflix is charged directly to an eligible telecom account, paid through a carrier app, or included in a streaming bundle.
- Check the account and price terms. Verify eligible prepaid or postpaid status, the Netflix tier, recurring charges, any add-on cost, and applicable taxes or fees before confirming.
- Find the cancellation route. Establish whether cancellation is managed through Netflix, Telenor, or the app or bundle provider, and what happens to service if you change your mobile plan.
The reviewed sources do not establish current country-specific eligibility, setup steps, fees, tax treatment, or cancellation rules across Telenor markets. Netflix describes payment methods as localized by market. In a 28 June 2022 article, Netflix said alternative-payment signups in Asia Pacific more than tripled from 2020 to 2021 after 16 payment partners were added; that is a regional Netflix-reported figure, not a Telenor-specific result.
