Its FY2026 Form 10-K reports approximately 23,300 regular full-time employees as of August 4, 2026, and says the company recorded no restructuring costs in fiscal 2025 or fiscal 2026. The filing does describe an older workforce-reduction plan, while separate FY2026 earnings materials list workforce optimization charges; neither establishes the headline’s alleged new plan.
Is Lam Research laying off 10% of its employees?
Not according to the official materials reviewed. Lam Research’s FY2026 Form 10-K, FY2026 earnings slides, and the surfaced August 27, 2026 SEC Form 8-K index do not confirm a new 10% workforce reduction. The 8-K index describes officer departures or appointments and compensation arrangements, not a broad layoff announcement. The alleged plan’s date, affected roles, regions, and charge are therefore unverified.
This is a statement about what those sources establish, not proof that no separate announcement exists. No original source for the 10% claim was identified in the materials reviewed.
How many people work at Lam Research?
Lam reported approximately 23,300 regular full-time employees as of August 4, 2026, in its FY2026 Form 10-K. The filing says 38% were in the United States, 56% in Asia, and 6% in Europe; more than 26% were engaged in research and development. These figures describe the company’s reported workforce, not a confirmed reduction.

What does Lam’s filing say about restructuring?
The FY2026 Form 10-K describes a prior plan initiated during fiscal 2023 to align the company’s cost structure with its outlook. Through June 30, 2024, Lam terminated approximately 1,760 employees under that plan. This historical action should not be conflated with the unverified claim of a new 10% reduction.
The same filing says Lam recorded no restructuring costs during fiscal years 2025 or 2026. That disclosure does not establish that the company announced a new restructuring charge.

Lam’s FY2026 earnings slides list workforce optimization charges in a non-GAAP reconciliation. The listed amounts total $25.725 million:
| Expense category | FY2026 workforce optimization charge |
|---|---|
| Cost of goods sold | $6.953 million |
| Research and development | $10.397 million |
| Selling, general and administrative expenses | $8.375 million |
| Total | $25.725 million |
These are workforce optimization amounts presented in the earnings-slide reconciliation. The slides do not connect them to a newly announced 10% layoff, and they should not be relabeled as the restructuring charge alleged in the headline. The filing’s separate statement that there were no restructuring costs in FY2026 remains distinct.
