Neither CRED nor CheQ is the best choice for everyone. CRED puts more emphasis on card management—tracking, spend analysis, reminders and credit insights—while CheQ centers on bill payment, multi-card convenience and CheQ Chips. Choose based on the features you will use, whether you meet CRED’s stated membership threshold, and the actual value you can redeem from CheQ Chips—not the advertised earn rate alone.
At a glance: CRED vs CheQ
| What matters | CRED | CheQ |
|---|---|---|
| Primary emphasis | Credit-card management, tracking, reminders and credit insights, according to CRED’s About page and App Store listing. | Credit-card bill payment, multi-card payment and CheQ Chips, according to its bill-payment page. |
| Eligibility | CRED’s current App Store listing states a credit score of 750 or above for membership. Check current eligibility in the app. | The reviewed CheQ listing does not state a comparable credit-score threshold. Check the app’s current signup requirements. |
| Bill-payment rewards | CRED’s terms cover its credit-card bill-payment feature, but the reviewed sources do not establish a fixed cash reward for every payment. | CheQ advertises 1% CheQ Chips per credit-card bill payment and discounts. Chips are not automatically equivalent to cash. |
| Fees | Check the payment flow and applicable terms for current fees or offers. | CheQ advertises no platform fees for the bill-payment service described on its product page; check the live payment screen and applicable bank or card terms. |
| Other app functions | CRED describes spend tracking and analysis, due-date reminders and CRED Protect features. | Its App Store listing also describes RuPay UPI rewards, utility and education-fee payments, and credit-related offerings. These features may change. |
How to choose between CRED and CheQ
Choose CRED if card oversight is your priority
CRED may suit you if you want more than a bill-payment flow: its company material highlights spend tracking and analysis, due-date reminders and CRED Protect, while its app listing includes credit insights. Its terms govern bill payments and other features, but they do not establish a guaranteed, fixed cash reward for every bill. Treat any offer shown in the app as offer-specific, and check its eligibility and terms rather than relying on past reward amounts.
CRED announced multibill payment and autopay in a newsroom post published about three months before October 4, 2026. In that announcement, CRED said that more than 70% of its members use more than one credit card to optimise rewards, manage spending and maintain credit profiles. That is a company-reported statistic about CRED members, not an independent estimate of Indian cardholders. See the CRED multibill and autopay announcement for the feature details.
Choose CheQ if its payment rewards work for you
CheQ’s bill-payment page advertises 1% CheQ Chips for each credit-card bill payment, bill discounts, multi-card payment and no platform fees for the described service. It also says users can save up to ₹1,200 per year on credit-card bills using Chips. That is CheQ’s stated maximum, not a guaranteed annual saving: your result depends on current earning rules, available redemptions and how much you pay through the app. Review the live CheQ bill-payment terms and redemption options before assigning a cash value to Chips.

CheQ’s App Store listing describes additional features such as RuPay UPI rewards and utility and education-fee payments. Those may be useful if you want a broader payments app, but they are separate from the narrower question of managing and paying credit-card bills, and app-store descriptions can change.
Compare rewards by usable value, not headline rate
A reward is worthwhile only if you can redeem it for something you would otherwise buy or use. CheQ’s advertised 1% is earned as Chips, not necessarily as cash, and the reviewed material does not establish that every user can redeem Chips at a fixed one-to-one cash value. CRED’s reviewed terms likewise do not establish a consistent cash-reward rate for every bill payment.

- Check the reward terms shown for your account before paying: what earns Chips or another reward, and whether there are caps, exclusions or expiry dates.
- Look at the current redemption options and calculate the value of the option you would actually use—not the advertised maximum.
- Subtract any applicable charges shown in the payment flow. For CheQ, the product page advertises no platform fee for its described bill-payment service, but verify the live screen and relevant issuer terms.
- Compare that net value with the app’s other benefits to you, such as reminders or spending analysis.
Reward rates, caps, redemption catalogues, fees, supported issuers and app features can change. Confirm current in-app conditions before making a payment decision.
What to check before paying a card bill through either app
The reviewed sources do not provide an independently tested, like-for-like comparison of CRED and CheQ settlement speeds. CheQ’s product page says settlement is within minutes, but that is the provider’s description, not a comparative test. Do not rely on an advertised speed as a reason to pay at the last minute.

- Pay early enough to allow for a delay or a payment that needs follow-up.
- Check the payment status in the app, then confirm the payment appears in your card issuer’s account.
- Keep the transaction confirmation until the issuer records the payment.
- Check the app’s supported-card information and the payment screen’s current fees and conditions before confirming.
Keep the CheQ AU credit card separate from CheQ bill-payment rewards
CheQ also offers a co-branded card with AU Small Finance Bank. This is a different product from earning CheQ Chips by paying another credit card’s bill in the CheQ app. CheQ’s card terms say AU Small Finance Bank manages and issues the card while CheQ provides the platform; the bank also describes the CheQ AU credit card. Card-spend rewards depend on eligible categories, thresholds, caps and terms that may change. Do not count those rewards as bill-payment Chips.
