On February 28, 2024, legal-technology company Litify said its revenue grew 54% year over year in 2023, profitability continued to expand, and more than 400 enterprise clients and 55,000 legal professionals used its platform. Those are company-reported figures: the announcement did not publish absolute revenue, profit figures, or audited financial statements. It is evidence of momentum according to Litify, not a complete picture of its finances or proof that its software caused customers to grow.
What Litify announced
Litify’s February 28, 2024 announcement described its 2023 results as record performance. The company, which sells a legal-operations platform to law firms and in-house legal teams, reported revenue growth, expanding profitability, and a larger user base. It also outlined product areas it planned to develop in 2024.
| Measure | What Litify reported | What the announcement establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 54% year-over-year growth in 2023 | Company-reported percentage; absolute revenue and the revenue measure used were not stated in the announcement. |
| Profitability | Continued expansion | The announcement gave no profit, margin, or cash-flow figures. |
| Enterprise clients | More than 400 | A company-reported count; the release did not define the client-counting method. |
| Legal professionals | More than 55,000 using the platform | A company-reported usage figure at the time of the announcement. |
| Growth among “clients” | 20% average growth, with some growing up to 400% | The release did not specify which businesses or metric “growth” referred to, the sample size, or the method used. |
The source for these figures is Litify’s announcement. It does not define whether “revenue” means GAAP revenue, recurring revenue, annual recurring revenue, or another internal measure. Its statement about expanding profitability is not accompanied by enough detail to calculate earnings or assess margins.
How to read the growth figures
Revenue growth is not the same as financial scale
A 54% increase indicates a fast-growing business by the company’s account, but the percentage alone does not reveal how large Litify was before or after that growth. Without an absolute revenue figure, readers cannot compare its scale directly with a public software company or calculate the dollars added.
#1 Best Overall
“Profitability expanded” is not a disclosed profit result
The release does not report net income, EBITDA, gross margin, operating expenses, or cash flow. It therefore supports only the attributed statement that Litify said profitability expanded; it does not show how much profit the company earned or whether it was profitable under a particular accounting measure.
Customer growth is especially ambiguous
Litify said its clients grew an average of 20%, with some reaching growth of up to 400%. The wording does not make clear whether “clients” means Litify’s customers or the customers served by law firms using Litify. Nor does it say whether growth means revenue, staff, matters, caseload, or another measure. The figures should not be treated as evidence that Litify itself added customers at those rates, or that the platform caused the reported growth.
Who Litify said was using the platform
The announcement placed Litify’s strongest foothold in personal injury, insurance defense, and immigration, while also describing use by in-house legal departments at Fortune 500 companies across North America and Europe. It named Begum Law Group, SBH Legal, Tiveron Law, and Unified Women’s Healthcare among its clients. The release also described expansion into Big Law, government, and nonprofit legal teams.
The announcement’s 55,000-plus professional figure is specific to the time it was issued. Litify’s current homepage later described more than 70,000 legal professionals and “hundreds” of enterprise legal teams; those later company claims should not be substituted for the historical 2023 figure. See Litify’s current homepage for its present positioning.

Litify’s products span matter and case management, workflows, documents, reporting, billing, and legal-spend tools. Its platform messaging describes a legal-specific layer built on Salesforce infrastructure. That does not mean Litify is simply Salesforce: a buyer should evaluate Litify’s configuration, implementation, licensing, integrations, and administration requirements separately. The company’s current descriptions are available on its platform page and enterprise legal management page.
Why the announcement mattered to Litify’s strategy
Litify’s reported growth coincided with an effort to broaden beyond its historical association with plaintiff-side and personal-injury work. Insurance-defense practices and corporate legal departments may require detailed billing controls, permissions, reporting, integrations, and coordination with outside counsel. Growth in those areas would position Litify for more complex enterprise operations, although the announcement does not quantify revenue by sector or show how much of the reported increase came from each market.

The company had also announced Curtis Brewer as CEO in August 2023 after what it called its most successful quarter. That earlier release said second-quarter growth was a record and profitability continued to expand, and connected the company’s plans to a Bessemer Venture Partners investment announced in February 2023. The terms and amount of that investment were not provided in the performance announcement. See Litify’s CEO announcement for its account of that context.
What Litify planned for 2024
The February 2024 release described intentions, not proof that each initiative was subsequently delivered. Litify said it planned to invest in:

- User experience: Developing a next-generation interface intended to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Timekeeping, billing, and accounting: Strengthening tools for these workflows.
- Beta testing and training: Offering client beta programs and administrator training and certification.
The announcement did not specify which customers could join beta programs, the details or cost of certifications, or whether every planned initiative launched. Litify’s current site now describes AI agents for legal tasks, but those later product claims should not be read backward as features available in 2023. Current AI positioning is on Litify’s AI page.

For a law firm or legal department, company growth can be a useful signal of commercial momentum, but it is not a substitute for evaluating operational fit. The announcement offers no retention or churn rates, customer-acquisition costs, implementation backlog, uptime data, support metrics, or independent assessment of customer outcomes. Testimonials in the release describe individual customers’ experience; they are customer statements selected by Litify, not comparative product testing.
A prospective buyer should examine the areas that determine both usability and total cost:
- Practice-area fit: Ask for workflows demonstrated against the organization’s actual work, whether personal injury, insurance defense, immigration, litigation, or in-house legal operations.
- Configuration and administration: Determine what can be configured, who will maintain it, and whether custom workflows create ongoing governance or technical-debt burdens.
- Salesforce and integrations: Confirm any Salesforce licensing requirements, integration scope, technical expertise needed, and costs beyond the Litify subscription. Salesforce infrastructure alone does not establish that a deployment will be cheaper, more secure, or simpler.
- Implementation and support: Request a written migration scope, timeline, training plan, support commitments, and explanation of services or change-order costs.
- Reporting and data access: Test dashboards with the organization’s own KPIs. Ask about exports, APIs, role-based access, and portability of matter, document, billing, and workflow data.
- Billing and legal spend: Clarify whether timekeeping, accounting, e-billing, invoice review, and outside-counsel management meet the organization’s requirements and are included or separately licensed.
- AI governance: Verify data retention, model providers, human review, audit trails, confidentiality and privilege protections, and contractual commitments before deploying AI in consequential legal work.
- Commercial terms: Litify does not publish list pricing on the cited pages and promotes a demo-led sales process. Ask for total costs, including implementation, integrations, required licenses, renewals, and termination assistance.
Litify’s demo page describes an introductory call followed by a tailored demonstration. Buyers should use that process to test the product against their own workflows rather than infer fit from a growth announcement.
What the announcement does not establish
- Audited financial performance or absolute revenue and earnings.
- How much of the 54% growth came from new customers, expansion sales, pricing, or particular legal sectors.
- The methodology, sample, or business metric behind the 20% average and 400% maximum customer-growth statements.
- That Litify caused customer growth, or that the company is the market leader.
- That its planned 2024 product work was delivered as described.
Litify also said it had received a LegalTech Breakthrough award for two consecutive years and appeared in Gartner’s 2023 Market Guide for Corporate Legal Operations Technology and IDC’s 2023 MarketScape for Worldwide Enterprise Legal Management Software. These are recognition and inclusion claims reported by Litify; they do not establish that Gartner or IDC ranked it the best platform for every buyer.
