A filing to list a WisdomTree XRP fund on a U.S. exchange is a proposal, not an approval and not a price forecast. Cboe BZX submitted the proposed rule change on February 6, 2025, and the SEC published its notice on February 19, 2025. Neither document shows that the fund was approved, that it trades, or that XRP will rise. This article explains what the filing does establish, how it differs from WisdomTree’s separate European XRP product, and what to check before drawing conclusions.
What the filing actually is
The SEC notice describes the submission as a “proposed rule change to list and trade shares of the WisdomTree XRP Fund” (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, notice dated February 19, 2025). In plain terms, an exchange asked the regulator for permission to list a product that would give investors exchange-traded exposure to XRP. The SEC then opened a review period. Filings like this are how exchange-traded products reach the market, but many proposals are never listed, and the notice itself does not decide the outcome.
The listing framework named in the notice is BZX Rule 14.11(e)(4), the Commodity-Based Trust Shares rule. The notice also states that the trust was formed as a Delaware statutory trust on November 25, 2024, has no fixed termination date, and is operated as a grantor trust for U.S. federal tax purposes (SEC notice, Release No. 34-102445). A grantor trust is generally treated for tax purposes as passing income and gains through to its holders rather than being taxed at the trust level. That is a description of the proposed structure, not a tax opinion for any investor.

Did the SEC approve the WisdomTree XRP ETF?
The sources cited here do not establish approval. They also do not establish rejection, withdrawal, or a listing. The U.S. proposal’s latest disposition, its ticker, final prospectus terms, fees, custody arrangements, and whether it trades today are not confirmed by any source in this article. Anyone who reads “filed” as “approved” is reading more into the record than it contains.
To check the current status, search the SEC’s EDGAR system for Cboe BZX rule filings and the WisdomTree XRP Fund, and look for any order approving or disapproving the proposal, any amendment, or any withdrawal. Then confirm trading with the exchange’s listing records. A product that is not yet trading has no ticker you can look up on a brokerage platform.

Will an XRP ETF make XRP go up?
Nothing in the SEC notice or in WisdomTree’s filings forecasts XRP’s price. A regulatory filing describes a proposed vehicle. It does not measure demand, supply, or sentiment. Any argument that approval would lift the price is a separate thesis about future flows into XRP, and it needs its own evidence, such as fund-flow data from products that already trade, rather than the existence of a filing.

- A proposal can be delayed, amended, or withdrawn, so the timing of any listing is uncertain.
- Even a listed fund would give exposure to XRP’s price, which can fall as well as rise. Its existence does not reduce that risk.
Is WisdomTree’s XRP ETF the same as WXRP?
No. The U.S. proposal and WisdomTree Physical XRP (WXRP) are different products in different markets. The table below shows what each source supports.

Because WXRP is available only through European exchange listings, a U.S. investor generally cannot buy it on a U.S. brokerage platform, and a European investor cannot assume that the U.S. proposal is available to them. Check eligibility before acting on either product.

- Pull the latest SEC filings for the WisdomTree XRP Fund proposal and confirm whether an approval order, amendment, or withdrawal exists.

The filing tells you that WisdomTree and Cboe BZX asked to bring an XRP-linked product to a U.S. exchange. It does not tell you whether the product exists in that form today, what it will cost, or how XRP will trade.
