There is no definitive, source-verified ranking of the ten richest people who live in Beijing. The available 2025 roundup lists people by the location of their principal companies’ headquarters, which is a different measure. Using that rule, its top ten are Zhang Yiming, Lei Jun’s family, Wang Xing, Chen Tianshi, Lin Bin, Chen Dongsheng and Chen Yilun, Wang Jianlin and Wang Sicong, Zhu Yan, Wang Ning and Yang Tao, and Liang Wengen—in that order.
2025 Beijing top ten by company headquarters
The following names and order are the Beijing roundup’s transcription of the 2025 New Fortune list. The geographic rule is the headquarters location of a person’s main company, not the person’s residence. The roundup presents family groupings for some entries; it does not make this a ranking of ten individual Beijing residents.
- Zhang Yiming
- Lei Jun’s family
- Wang Xing
- Chen Tianshi
- Lin Bin
- Chen Dongsheng and Chen Yilun
- Wang Jianlin and Wang Sicong
- Zhu Yan
- Wang Ning and Yang Tao
- Liang Wengen
The Beijing roundup identifies its New Fortune list as headquarters-based. It does not supply a comparable, fully verified current top ten of Beijing residents, so these names should not be presented as the ten wealthiest people who live in the city.
Why “richest in Beijing” depends on the definition
A founder may live in one city while the principal company is headquartered in another. A residence-based ranking and a headquarters-based ranking can therefore include different people, even when both are described as Beijing lists. The roundup says its older Forbes and Hurun Beijing rankings use residence, while its 2025 New Fortune list uses company headquarters. These methods should not be blended into one list.
#1 Best Overall
Rankings also depend on the publisher’s inclusion rules, whether wealth is attributed to an individual or family, and the date used to value assets. The New Fortune names above are one publisher’s list as transcribed by the roundup; they are not an independently verified, live measure of personal fortunes.
What Hurun’s 2025 China list can—and cannot—tell you
Hurun Research Institute released its Hurun China Rich List 2025 on 28 October 2025, with wealth calculations made from 1 September 2025. It is a national ranking, not a Beijing top ten. Hurun reported 1,434 individuals with more than CNY 5 billion, equivalent in its release to US$700 million; that count applies to the China list, not to Beijing.
Rank #2
Hurun says valuation involves judgment as well as quantitative work. It notes that some people may be missed and that identifying ownership stakes in private companies can be difficult. As a result, wealth-list figures are estimates tied to a publisher’s methods and valuation date—not audited cash balances or a definitive accounting of someone’s assets.
Beijing business figures mentioned by Hurun
Hurun’s 2025 Global Rich List discussion identifies Beijing-based Lei Jun of Xiaomi, Chen Tianshi of Cambricon, Zhou Chaonan of Range Intelligent, and Wang Ning of Pop Mart as notable wealth risers or business figures. These examples provide context, but the discussion does not give a complete Beijing ranking or establish their order relative to one another.

Hurun also reported that its national “Top 10 Risers added US$192bn of wealth, triple that of last year.” That finding concerns its national list, not the ten people in the headquarters-based Beijing list above. Its chairman and chief researcher, Rupert Hoogewerf, attributed the rise in listed wealth amid a flat economy to valuations based on businesses’ expected future profit-making ability. This is one explanation for why published wealth estimates can move with company valuations rather than reflect cash on hand.

Before treating any ranking as an answer to “Who is the richest person in Beijing?”, check these details:
Rank #4
- Geography: Does “Beijing” mean where a person resides or where their principal company is headquartered?
- Publisher and year: Lists from different publishers and years are not interchangeable.
- Valuation date and currency: Wealth estimates are snapshots, not timeless figures.
- Individual or family: Some rankings group relatives, while others rank individuals.
- Coverage: A list of selected business figures is not the same as a complete top ten.
For the 2025 New Fortune-based names, the relevant answer is a company-headquarters list. For the ten richest Beijing residents, the sources cited here do not establish a definitive ranking.
