What “highest-earning” means in this ranking
Esports Earnings’ “Highest Overall Earnings” ranking measures recorded tournament prize money. It does not rank players by audited total income or net worth. The site says it compiles publicly available information, including articles, interviews, official statements, and databases. Its API documentation describes player totals in U.S. dollars and tournament-level currency and exchange-rate data.

How team prizes are attributed
For team tournaments, Esports Earnings documents dividing the team prize among the known players plus any count of unknown players. A player’s displayed total therefore depends in part on recorded roster information. The database also converts prizes from their original currency using the exchange rate on the tournament’s end date. These are accounting choices for comparing recorded winnings, not evidence of what each player ultimately kept after taxes, fees, or other deductions.
Why Dota 2 leads this snapshot
Each of the five leading players has Dota 2 listed as the highest-paying game, and Dota 2 accounts for essentially all of each player’s recorded overall total in this ranking. That describes tournament prize records, not broader compensation across games or income sources. In a 2025 esports publication, PwC also identified N0tail as the all-time leader at approximately $7.18 million and connected his results primarily to Dota 2 and The International, including OG’s consecutive victories in 2018 and 2019. PwC’s rounded figure is useful context, while the more recent precise amounts above come from Esports Earnings’ 2026 snapshot.

How to interpret the amounts
- They are prize-money records: They are not salaries, sponsorship payments, streaming revenue, or a complete measure of a player’s finances.
- They depend on public records: Event coverage, historical corrections, and roster attribution can affect what appears in the database.
- They are not take-home pay: The ranking does not establish how winnings were divided under a player’s contract or what remained after taxes and expenses.
- They can change: Esports Earnings is a dynamic ranking, so the date attached to any quoted total matters.
