Did Ubisoft stock fall under $1?
The available dated figures do not establish that it did. Ubisoft’s investor information identifies the shares as ticker UBI on Euronext Paris, with trading in euros. A U.S.-dollar comparison would need to specify the security and venue being quoted, as well as the date and exchange rate; the January reporting alone cannot verify a claim that the shares traded below $1.
Le Monde reported that Ubisoft shares had fallen 38% by mid-afternoon on January 22, 2026, and closed at €4.06 on January 23. Those are historical figures from the immediate reaction to the announcement. They do not establish the price on October 8, 2026, and should not be presented as a current quote.
What did Ubisoft cancel or delay?
In its January 21, 2026 announcement, Ubisoft said it had discontinued six games and given seven others more development time. The company named only one discontinued project: the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. The other five were four unannounced games—including three new intellectual properties—and one mobile title. Ubisoft did not identify those projects by name in the announcement.

The distinction matters: the announcement confirms the totals, but it does not establish the identities of the unnamed projects or mean that every delayed game was canceled.
Why did Ubisoft cancel six games?
Ubisoft said the reset responded to a more selective and competitive market for AAA games, rising development costs, stronger competition in shooters, and the difficulty of building new brands. CEO Yves Guillemot framed the company’s January 21 explanation as a contrast: “On the one hand, the AAA industry has become persistently more selective and competitive with rising development costs and greater challenges in creating brands. On the other hand, exceptional AAA games, when successful, have more financial potential than ever.” This is management’s explanation of its decision, not independent proof that any one factor caused the cancellations or the share-price decline.

The changes went beyond the six cancellations. Ubisoft announced five Creative Houses, a Creative Network, headquarters changes, studio closures or restructurings, and a renewed cost-reduction plan. Together, these measures signaled a broad operating and portfolio reset rather than a standalone decision about one game.
What did Ubisoft’s financial updates show?
The January outlook was a forecast, not a final result. Ubisoft’s later reports provided a reported full-year bookings figure and new guidance. The figures below are company-reported or company-forecast amounts for the periods shown; non-IFRS figures are Ubisoft’s non-IFRS measures.

In May, Ubisoft also said it expected a larger content pipeline in FY2027–28 and FY2028–29. That pipeline and the anticipated FY2027–28 positive results were expectations, not established outcomes. The July quarter added a later operating update, but neither it nor the May report supplies an October 8 share-price quote.

The timing links the sharp January market move to the period after Ubisoft announced the reset, but the figures cited here do not prove that cancellations alone caused the full decline. Ubisoft’s announcement described its portfolio and cost decisions; Le Monde reported the share-price movement. Neither, by itself, establishes a single cause for the market reaction.

For investors assessing the news, keep three kinds of information separate: the January cancellations and restructuring announcement; reported operating results, such as the May full-year bookings and July quarter; and forecasts, including Ubisoft’s FY2026–27 and later-year expectations. A forecast is not a result, and none of these figures substitutes for a dated market quote.

How to verify a sub-$1 stock claim
- Identify the exact security and trading venue. Ubisoft’s investor information lists UBI on Euronext Paris, traded in euros.
- Check a price record for the specific date being claimed, and distinguish an intraday low from a closing price.
- State the quote currency. If converting euros to U.S. dollars, give the exchange-rate date and make clear that the converted figure is not the exchange’s original quote.
- Do not use January 2026 market reporting as evidence of an October 8, 2026 price; the cited reporting gives a January 23 close, not a later quote.
