The rate depends on the eligible commodity, but a producer’s payment is based on eligible 2025 reported acres and program eligibility—not production. The application period closed April 17, 2026; producers can still check an existing application or payment through USDA’s status tools.
USDA Farmer Bridge Assistance rates by commodity
The USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced these per-acre rates on December 31, 2025, for eligible commodities that triggered a payment:

These are scheduled commodity rates, not guaranteed payments to every farm growing the crop. FSA’s current FBA program page lists crambe and rapeseed as eligible commodities, but neither has a rate in the announcement: crambe had no reported crop acres in 2025, and rapeseed did not trigger an eligible loss.
How to estimate an FBA payment
FSA calculates the payment by multiplying the commodity’s flat rate by eligible reported acres. The calculation is acreage-based, not production-based, and FSA says there is no payment factor.

Estimated payment = commodity rate per acre × eligible reported acres
For example, 100 eligible reported acres of corn at the published $44.36 rate would produce an estimated $4,436 before applying program eligibility and payment limits. This is an illustration of the formula, not a determination of an individual producer’s payment.

FBA uses 2025 reported acres. Double-crop acres—including both the initial crop and a subsequently planted crop—may qualify. Prevented-plant acres do not. The FSA program page says rates reflect cost-of-production information from USDA’s Economic Research Service and the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report.
Which producers and acres may qualify?
FSA’s requirements include all of the following:
- The producer must be actively engaged in farming and have risk and interest in the eligible planted commodity.
- Eligible 2025 crop-year acres must have been reported by 5 p.m. ET on December 19, 2025.
- The commodity’s use must qualify. Intended uses generally qualify except grazing, experimental use, green manure, crops left standing, and cover crops. The February 2026 fact sheet also identifies volunteer stands as excluded.
- The producer must meet the program’s payment-limit and adjusted-gross-income rules.
The FBA payment limit is $155,000 per producer. A person or legal entity with average adjusted gross income above $900,000 is generally ineligible, subject to the exceptions FSA states for joint ventures and general partnerships. Crop-insurance linkage is not required. Consult FSA’s program rules or your county office for how these requirements apply to a specific operation.

Can producers still apply or check payment status?
No. The application window ran from February 23 through April 17, 2026, and is closed. One application covered all FBA-eligible commodities nationwide.
Producers who submitted an application can use FSA’s FBA page and status tools to check application and payment status; a secure Login.gov account is needed for online status access. FSA also directs producers who need to confirm their forms to contact their county office. The current program guidance says payments are issued as applications are approved.

What the announced program funding means
FSA describes the FBA allocation as $11 billion for one-time bridge payments to American farmers until benefits of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act are available. USDA’s December 31 announcement described $12 billion in farmer assistance overall. The FBA is authorized under the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter Act and administered by FSA. These funding figures describe the program and broader assistance announcement; they do not change the per-acre formula or establish an individual producer’s payment.
The December 2025 announcement forecast that qualifying farmers could expect payments by February 28, 2026. That was a dated forecast, not a current guarantee; FSA’s present guidance says payments are issued as applications are approved, so applicants should rely on their status information or county office for their case.
