Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies of 2025” is a broad editorial selection—not a ranked shopping list or a guide to companies for investors to buy. Fast Company says it chose 609 organizations across 58 categories, assessing their innovation, impact, timeliness, and relevance.
What Fast Company’s 2025 list represents
Fast Company’s official label for the edition is “Most Innovative Companies of 2025,” also described as the “World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025.” The annual franchise recognizes organizations for innovations that may involve products, services, business models, or strategic acquisitions. It spans industries and regions rather than focusing on one kind of company or product.
The publisher reported 609 honorees across 58 categories. Those numbers describe the selection’s scope; they are not measures of the honorees’ financial performance, social outcomes, or relative standing. The 2025 selection article explains that a team of more than four dozen editors and writers considered nominations and other companies, with PitchBook data used as a research aid. How companies were selected
Fast Company says it assessed entries against four criteria:
#1 Best Overall
- Innovation: A distinct innovation, such as a product, service, business model, or strategic acquisition.
- Impact: Effects on the company or industry, supported by evidence offered by the applicant.
- Timeliness: An innovation from the preceding 12 months or meaningful recent advances with recent impact.
- Relevance: A connection to current events or larger industry and social issues.
The publisher describes a months-long process with multiple rounds of judging and conversations. Amy Farley, Fast Company executive editor and a director of the franchise, put it this way: “Each winner is chosen after multiple rounds of judging and conversations.” Fast Company’s explanation of its judging criteria
Examples from the category coverage
Fast Company published category-level coverage rather than treating every honoree as part of one comparable ranking. The examples below illustrate the range of work represented; they are not a complete roster or an independent assessment of each company.

| Coverage area | Examples named by Fast Company | Illustrated focus |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprise | Figma, Moveworks, Red Hat | Collaboration, enterprise AI, speech recognition, data privacy, open-source AI, and physical asset management. |
| Applied AI | Glean, Anysphere/Cursor, Blackbird.AI, Google DeepMind | Workplace search, coding assistance, disinformation detection, and protein modeling. |
These names and examples come from Fast Company’s enterprise coverage and applied AI coverage. Company-profile claims should be read in the context of those articles; a place on an editorial list does not by itself establish independent verification of commercial or societal results.
Is the 2025 selection a ranking or investment guide?
No. Fast Company separately identifies a World’s 50 list and publishes industry or category selections, so “top picks” should not be read as a single numerical order covering all 609 honorees. Nor is the selection a consumer buying guide or a recommendation to invest in any listed company. The publisher’s criteria describe editorial judgments about innovation and relevance, not an assessment of stock value, risk, or future returns.
Rank #3
For a meaningful comparison, look at companies within the same category and examine the specific innovation, the evidence for its impact, when it occurred, and its connection to industry or social issues. Those are the publisher’s selection criteria—not a substitute for financial due diligence or independent reporting.

The 2025 honorees are a historical edition of an annual franchise. Fast Company’s current Lists page describes the franchise as recognizing groundbreaking products, novel business strategies, positive social impact, and industry-shaping approaches; its stated release schedule belongs to the current franchise, not the 2025 selection. Keep the editions separate when using the list to understand a company today.
