Onmira is Corteva Agriscience’s brand name for picoxystrobin, an active ingredient used in formulated fungicides—not the name of one finished fungicide. Corteva announced the global brand on February 12, 2020. A product’s approved crops, directions and availability still depend on its specific label and country.
What Corteva’s Onmira announcement means
Corteva’s February 12, 2020 announcement described Onmira™ as its new global brand name for picoxystrobin. Picoxystrobin is the active ingredient; Onmira identifies that ingredient in Corteva product information. The announcement called picoxystrobin a strobilurin, Group 11 fungicide for foliar and soil-borne plant diseases. Corteva’s announcement, hosted by PRWeb, gives the company’s original description.
The release said picoxystrobin was then used in “more than 15” Corteva fungicides. That is a company-reported count from 2020, not a current portfolio total or a measure of product performance. It also listed soybean, corn, wheat, rice, sunflower, canola and oilseed rape among crops on which products containing Onmira were labeled at that time. Those examples do not mean every formulation is registered for every crop or market.
Onmira is not a finished fungicide product
Finished fungicides may contain Onmira alongside other active ingredients, and their labels can differ by formulation and jurisdiction. Corteva named Vessarya as one product example in 2020; the release’s footnote said Vessarya with Onmira was trademarked in Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay. That dated example should not be treated as confirmation of present availability or registration in those countries.

How to check whether a product is suitable for a crop
A global active-ingredient brand does not establish that a particular product is approved for a crop, disease or location. Before use, consult the current label for the exact product in your jurisdiction and the relevant regulator’s information. When comparing products containing picoxystrobin, check:
- Registered product name and country.
- Active ingredients and formulation.
- Crops and diseases listed on the current label.
- Application directions, restrictions and other label requirements.
- The label’s date or version.
What the announcement does—and does not—say about efficacy
Keith Graham, identified in the release as Corteva Agriscience Global Portfolio Leader, said: “With a consistent global brand, farmers can be confident that products containing picoxystrobin and labeled with Onmira active possess the benefits of Corteva’s exceptional research, development and testing,” The statement describes Corteva’s rationale for the brand; it is not independent efficacy evidence. The cited material establishes no independent efficacy statistic or universal ranking of products.
