Usually, no. Robux you bought, received as a gift, or got through a Premium grant generally cannot be redeemed for cash. Roblox’s limited exception is its Developer Exchange (DevEx) program, which lets eligible creators request money for qualifying Earned Robux. Roblox reviews the earnings and account before approving a payout.
Which Robux can be exchanged for money?
DevEx is for qualifying proceeds from creating and monetizing compliant Roblox content, plus certain designated promotional awards. Roblox lists examples including marketplace sales of creator-made items, Creator Rewards, in-experience purchases, publisher ad revenue, and affiliate sales fees. The earnings must comply with Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Standards, and Roblox decides what qualifies.
These balances generally do not count as Earned Robux: Robux bought directly or redeemed from a gift card, monthly Premium grants, transfers received from another user, and proceeds from trading or reselling virtual items. A large balance alone does not make it cashable. Roblox also excludes certain invalid or noncompliant earnings, such as template-game passes without legitimate visits or earnings from moderated violative content. See Roblox’s DevEx overview and Earned Robux rules.
Who can request a DevEx payout?
Roblox’s stated minimum requirements include all of the following:

These are minimums, not a promise of approval. Roblox reviews the account and the sources of the earnings after a request is submitted; it does not pre-guarantee eligibility. Details are in the DevEx eligibility requirements.
How much can qualifying Earned Robux pay?
The applicable rate depends on when and how the Robux were earned. Roblox’s listed rates are not a cash value for every Robux balance; they apply only to qualifying Earned Robux and remain subject to its rules and review.

| Robux category | Roblox-listed rate | Example at 30,000 qualifying Robux |
|---|---|---|
| Standard earnings acquired on or after September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time | $0.0038 per Robux | $114 |
| Earlier earnings, acquired before September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time | $0.0035 per Robux | $105 |
| Qualifying in-game spending by U.S. players verified as at least 18, effective June 8, 2026 | $0.0054 per Robux | $162 |
The higher U.S. 18+ rate is a specific category tied to qualifying spending by verified adult U.S. players; it is not a rate to apply to every creator or balance. Roblox says older-rate Robux must be cashed out before standard new-rate earnings. Rates and eligibility can change, so check Roblox’s current DevEx rate information before estimating a payout.
How to request a payout
- Open Roblox’s Creator Hub/account interface and review the estimated Earned Robux balance and DevEx instructions.
- If the balance and account appear eligible, submit a Cash Out request using the legal name of the participant.
- Wait for Roblox to review the account and earnings. The displayed balance is an estimate, not a payout guarantee.
- If approved for the first time, follow the invitation to register in the DevEx portal and provide the required tax and payment information.
Roblox explains the request process in its DevEx overview and payout instructions.

Can you sell Robux to someone else?
Roblox identifies attempts to exchange Robux for real currency outside DevEx as conduct that can disqualify a user. Do not treat a third-party cash-out service, private buyer, or transfer arrangement as an alternative withdrawal method. Roblox’s Terms of Use state that “Robux are not a substitute for real currency, do not earn interest, and have no equivalent value in real currency,” while recognizing DevEx as an exception for accepted creators who meet program criteria. Read the Roblox Terms of Use and its transfer and trading guidance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why might a DevEx request be rejected?
Roblox’s public rules do not let an outside reader determine whether an individual account will pass review. A request may fail to qualify if the account does not meet a stated minimum, the balance comes from excluded sources, earnings are invalid or noncompliant, or the account violates Roblox’s terms. Roblox retains discretion to decide which Robux count as Earned Robux and whether a request qualifies.
