Thrive Capital’s new Thrive X fund closed above $10 billion, making it the firm’s largest fund to date. Its reported structure sets aside $1 billion for early-stage investments and $9 billion for growth-stage investments. The announcement identifies broad investment themes, but not sector-by-sector allocations or a complete investment schedule.
How large is Thrive X, and how is it divided?
Thrive X is Thrive Capital’s tenth fund, according to TechCrunch’s February 17, 2026 report. Thrive Capital’s legal adviser, Proskauer Rose LLP, confirmed the closing on March 10, 2026, at more than $10 billion and specified the stage allocation:
| Fund | Total size | Early-stage allocation | Growth-stage allocation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thrive X | More than $10 billion (Proskauer Rose LLP, March 10, 2026) | $1 billion (Proskauer Rose LLP, March 10, 2026) | $9 billion (Proskauer Rose LLP, March 10, 2026) |
| Thrive IX | $5 billion (The Information, reporting in February 2026 on the August 2024 close) | Not stated (The Information, February 2026) | Not stated (The Information, February 2026) |
The comparison indicates that Thrive X is roughly twice the size of Thrive IX, which closed at $5 billion in August 2024, as reported by The Information. The available figures do not establish Thrive IX’s stage allocation, so the funds cannot be compared on that basis.
What does Thrive Capital plan to invest in?
Bloomberg’s February 17, 2026 report identified AI applications and infrastructure, space, robotics, and life sciences as intended investment areas. Those are broad themes, not disclosed budget commitments: available reporting does not state how much of Thrive X is earmarked for any one sector.

TechCrunch described the firm’s strategy as concentrating on a small number of founders, saying it would “commit deeply to a small number of founders.” The reported themes and this strategy framing do not amount to a full investment schedule or a forecast of returns.
What does the reported oversubscription mean?
Bloomberg reported that the fund was heavily oversubscribed, with Thrive turning away billions of dollars in prospective investments, according to the firm. No oversubscription multiple is established in the available reporting. Oversubscription describes demand relative to the amount the fund accepted; on its own, it does not show how Thrive X will perform or what investors will earn.

No. Thrive X is a fund raised by Thrive Capital. Thrive Holdings is a separate entity and its August 2026 financing was a separate transaction. Thrive Holdings said it raised more than $2 billion in new capital at a $12 billion valuation, and more than $3 billion in total capital since inception (Thrive Holdings, August 12, 2026). Those figures belong to Thrive Holdings, not Thrive Capital or Thrive X.
