Salary Sport’s archived 2023/24 figures imply an average of about £3,796 per player per week: its estimated £193,580 weekly squad wage bill divided by 51 listed players. This is a calculation from a provider’s estimates—not an official club average or a confirmed individual contract figure.
How the all-roster average is calculated
Salary Sport’s Coventry City 2023/24 archive gives an estimated weekly wage bill of £193,580 and a roster count of 51 players. Dividing those figures gives £3,795.69, rounded to £3,796 per player per week.
The same page gives an estimated annual bill of £10,066,160. The weekly average above uses the weekly estimate and the page’s 51-player count; it does not mean every player earned that amount. It is an arithmetic mean across the listed roster, not a source-published or official figure.
Why another published average is higher
Salary Sport separately reports an average of £8,243 per week for 21 players aged 22 or over. That figure has a narrower denominator than the all-roster calculation: it excludes the other 30 players in the listed 51-player squad. It should not be described as the average for the entire roster.

The estimates also show how a small number of large salaries can pull up a mean. Salary Sport lists Haji Wright at £21,000 per week and says its five highest earners accounted for 36% of the estimated squad bill. Those figures are provider estimates, not confirmed contract disclosures.
What the figures do—and do not—tell you
They are estimates, not official wage disclosures
Salary Sport labels its wage information as estimates. Capology’s archived Coventry City 2023–24 salary page likewise cautions that its figures are not official. Capology says verified player data may draw on public reports or sources close to the company, while unverified figures may be algorithmically estimated using information that can include club financial statements or UEFA publications. Its stated method also recognizes that financial statements can include personnel costs beyond first-team player pay.

Company accounts are not a player-only wage breakdown
Coventry City Football Club Limited’s accounts for the year ended 31 May 2024 report wages and salaries at company level. Such a total is broader than a first-team player wage bill and cannot be divided by the squad count to create a reliable player average. It may encompass staff and other personnel costs, so it is not directly comparable with Salary Sport’s estimated player figures.
