Is TNPSC Group 4 2024 still open?
No. TNPSC dated Notification No. 1/2024 on 30 January 2024. The application deadline and examination date have passed. TNPSC’s official application portal now lists Notification 11/2026, dated 6 October 2026, as a separate Group IV recruitment. Its application period is 6 October through 5 November 2026, and its examination is scheduled for 10 January 2027. Check the current notice for the vacancy count, post list, eligibility and application instructions for that cycle; the 2024 figures below apply only to Notification No. 1/2024.
What did the 2024 notification announce?
The original 2024 notification listed 6,244 vacancies across Group IV posts. TNPSC’s revised annual planner also showed 6,244 for this recruitment. This is the announced total for Notification No. 1/2024, not a vacancy figure for the 2026 cycle. Post-level vacancies and conditions differ, so use the post table in the official notice when checking a specific role.
TNPSC’s notice cautioned that selection was provisional and subject to final orders in any court cases relating to the recruitment pending before the Madras High Court or its Madurai Bench.

These dates are historical. TNPSC’s notice required candidates to apply online through its websites after One Time Registration; registration alone did not count as an application. Hall tickets were to be downloaded from TNPSC’s websites, not sent by post.
What was the Group 4 exam pattern in 2024?
The 2024 selection examination was one three-hour, objective-type OMR paper at SSLC standard. It had 200 questions and a maximum of 300 marks:

The combined Part A and Part B score was used for ranking. The notification provided an exception for eligible differently abled candidates who had studied only English: they could choose General English instead of the Tamil eligibility-cum-scoring test.
What were the age and qualification rules?
Age was assessed as of 1 July 2024. For most posts, the baseline minimum was 18 years and the candidate must not have completed 32 years. The minimum was 21 for Village Administrative Officer and specified forest posts. Upper-age rules, concessions and exceptions depended on the post and the candidate’s circumstances.
There was no single qualification rule covering every Group IV post. The notice defined Minimum General Educational Qualification in relation to SSLC, while certain jobs required additional education or technical credentials, such as typing qualifications. Check the qualification, age and any other post-specific conditions in the relevant vacancy table and annexures before relying on a general summary.
