What was the deadline, and is the recruitment still open?
The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) invited online applications for the temporary Assistant Surgeon (Dental) post in Tamil Nadu Medical Services under Notification No. 05/MRB/2025. Applications opened on February 25, 2025. Registration and online payment closed on March 17, 2025, so candidates cannot apply under that notice now. How many vacancies were announced?
The February 25 notification described the vacancy count as approximately 47 and said the category distribution would be announced later. In a corrigendum dated July 28, 2025, MRB published a category-wise distribution totaling 48. The corrected distribution, rather than the earlier approximate estimate, is the later published count. What were the pay and eligibility requirements?

The notification set the pay at Level 22: Rs. 56,100–2,05,700.

Education and registration
Applicants needed a qualifying degree in Dental Surgery, registration as a practitioner under the applicable registration law, at least 12 months of house-surgeon CRRI, and registration with the Tamil Nadu Dental Council by the notification date.
Age limit
Maximum age limits varied by category and were calculated as of July 1, 2025. There was not one universal maximum age; candidates needed to use the category-specific limits in the notification.

What selection process and exam did the notice specify?
The selection process included a Tamil Language Eligibility Test and an objective computer-based test (CBT) in Dental Medicine. There was no oral interview. CBT marks determined ranking, subject to reservation and communal-rotation rules, with original-certificate verification for shortlisted candidates.
Tamil Language Eligibility Test
This was a one-hour qualifying test with a stated minimum qualifying mark of 40%. The notification exempted differently abled candidates from this test under the government order it cited.

Dental Medicine CBT
The subject examination was a two-hour, English-only objective test at undergraduate standard, with 100 questions. The notification stated that wrong answers would not attract negative marks. CBT marks, rather than the qualifying language-test score, were used for ranking.
What happened after applications closed?
MRB’s examination listing records the Assistant Surgeon (Dental) exam on April 24, 2025. Later entries on the board’s official notification index include answer-key and certificate-verification materials. Those notices show that the recruitment proceeded beyond the application stage, but the materials referenced here do not establish final appointment status as of October 8, 2026. The notification listed an application fee of Rs. 500 for SC, SCA, ST, and DAP(PH) candidates, and Rs. 1,000 for other candidates. It stated that a submitted online application could not be withdrawn and that the fee would not be refunded or adjusted. These were conditions of the 2025 application window, which has closed.
