The former New Seasons Market at 951 NW Ballard Way is now H Mart Ballard, which opened June 5, 2025. Amazon was connected to the property through permits and reported grocery-technology testing, but its planned Amazon Market never opened. H Mart currently lists daily hours of 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
H Mart Ballard: location, hours and services
H Mart Ballard is at 951 NW Ballard Way, Seattle, WA 98107. H Mart’s official store listing, checked October 8, 2026, gives its hours as 8 a.m.–9:30 p.m. daily and lists fewer than 50 parking spaces.
The store page lists a Korean deli, catering service, food court, Artbox and K-beauty. The space is approximately 25,000 square feet: Seattle Korean Daily described it that way in its opening report, while a JLL property flyer gives the suite area as 24,989 square feet.
When did H Mart open in Ballard?
H Mart announced a June 5, 2025 opening. Seattle Korean Daily reported that the grand opening took place that day at 10 a.m. The store occupies the former New Seasons Market site.

What happened to the New Seasons and Amazon plans?
- May 2018: New Seasons Market opened at the address.
- 2019: New Seasons closed the Ballard store.
- Early 2021: Permits connected Amazon to electrical improvements at the property.
- January 2023: A city inspection filing identified the location as “Amazon Market.” Amazon reportedly tested grocery-related technology there, but the planned Amazon grocery store did not open.
- February 2025: H Mart’s liquor-license application identified the address as its planned Ballard location.
- June 5, 2025: H Mart Ballard opened.
My Ballard reported that the proposed Amazon Market plan fell through. GeekWire, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that Amazon tested grocery technology at the site and later subleased it. Those reports describe Amazon’s historical connection; they do not mean that Amazon operates the current store.
What is Amazon’s remaining connection to the property?
A JLL Capital Markets property marketing flyer describes H Mart as a subtenant under Amazon Retail LLC’s lease and says Amazon retains lease liability. Those are claims in a brokerage marketing document, not an independently audited lease record, so they should be understood as the flyer’s description of the arrangement.

The property’s story also sits within a broader change in Amazon’s physical grocery strategy. In a company statement updated May 12, 2026, Amazon Staff said: “While we’ve seen encouraging signals in our Amazon-branded physical grocery stores, we haven’t yet created a truly distinctive customer experience with the right economic model needed for large-scale expansion.” Amazon said it would close its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores while focusing on other grocery investments, including expanding online grocery delivery and Whole Foods Market. That company-wide explanation is not a statement about the specific Ballard property.
