Comcast announced four national Xfinity Internet plans on June 26, 2025, and said each included unlimited data and an Xfinity WiFi Gateway. The listed monthly prices ranged from $40 to $130, depending on speed and price type. The announcement followed a reported loss of 183,000 residential broadband customers in Q1 2025, but the timing alone does not establish that those losses caused the plan change.

What Comcast announced in June 2025

Comcast’s June 26, 2025 announcement introduced four national Xfinity Internet tiers, with download speeds of 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps, and 2 Gbps. Comcast said every tier included unlimited data and an Xfinity WiFi Gateway, plus a line of Xfinity Mobile for one year.

The announcement described the price guarantees as available without contracts. Its feature and pricing details are what Comcast announced in 2025—not an independently tested assessment or a quote for a particular household today.

How the announced monthly prices compared

Comcast published three monthly price types for each speed: a one-year price guarantee, a five-year price guarantee, and an everyday price.

These are Comcast’s published monthly figures from June 2025. They do not establish the price or eligibility available at a specific address in October 2026, nor do they show an individual customer’s complete bill.

Did Comcast remove data caps for every customer?

No. Ars Technica’s June 27, 2025 report said existing customers on capped plans would need to switch to a new plan to get unlimited data. The announcement did not automatically move every account to a new tier.

Netgear Nighthawk Cable Modem WiFi Router Combo C7000-Compatibility Cable Providers including Xfinity by Comcast, Cox (Renewed)
  • Compatible with major cable internet providers including Xfinity and Cox. NOT compatible with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and any bundled voice service. Best for cable provider plans up to 800Mbps.

Before changing service, check your account and address-specific checkout details. Confirm the available plan, monthly price, guarantee period, taxes and fees, and whether switching affects existing terms. Comcast’s 2025 announcement does not answer those customer-specific questions.

Why did Comcast announce the plans after customer losses?

Ars Technica reported that Comcast lost 183,000 residential broadband customers in Q1 2025. The report placed the new plans in the context of customer losses and competition, but that sequence does not independently prove the losses caused the change.

Motorola MG7550 2-in-1 Cable Modem with Built-in WiFi Router
  • 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem plus a built-in AC1900 Dual Band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) WiFi Gigabit Router with four Gigabit (GigE) Ethernet ports, a firewall DFS, Power Boost, and more. This product is recommended for actual cable Internet service speeds up to 375 Mbps. A Broadcom cable modem chipset provides security from Denial of Service attacks. WiFi performance is exceptionally good, even in multi-dwelling units with lots of WiFi noise from neighbors. DFS and Power Boost are key
  • Requires cable Internet service. Approved by and for use with Comcast Xfinity and Xfinity X1, Cox, Charter, Time Warner Cable, Suddenlink, WOW., CableOne and other cable service providers. Eliminate cable modem rental fees up to 156 dollars per year. (Savings are shown for Xfinity and vary by cable service provider. No cable modem is compatible with fiber optic, DSL, or satellite services from Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, and others. Model MG7550 has no phone jack.)
  • Built-in high-speed Wi-Fi router with AC1900 Wi-Fi, and Power Boost, and DFS provides Internet access for Wi-Fi devices including smartphones, notebooks, tablets, game stations, HDTVs, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and AppleTV. Four 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide wired connections to Windows and Mac computers, HDTVs, game stations, streaming TV devices, and other Ethernet-capable devices.
  • Wireless Power Boost adds high-performance WiFi power amplifiers to boost the wireless signals to the legal limit, giving a significant boost in speed and range. The router can work on WiFi DFS frequencies, unlike most routers, so it is much less vulnerable to WiFi interference from neighbors. In addition, AnyBeam beamforming at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies focuses the signal on wireless clients to further enhance performance and range.
  • Integrating the cable modem and router creates a reliable connection that reduces unwieldy wiring and power adapter clutter while conserving desk space. The vertical design minimizes shelf space and improves cooling while looking great in any home or office. A two-year warranty plus rugged lightning and power surge circuits protect your investment.

Ars also quoted Comcast President Mike Cavanagh identifying price transparency and ease of doing business as issues executives had recognized. In Comcast’s own announcement, COO Steve Croney said the company was delivering on a new pricing strategy with a five-year price lock and new everyday-price plans. He described the packages as simple and transparent and promoted their reliability and security; those are Comcast’s claims, not independent findings.
