Burbank police say four people were arrested in connection with a December 2, 2025 burglary at LA Sports Cards, where the estimated loss was about $100,000 in collectible merchandise. The total included Pokémon trading card products, rare sports cards and other collectibles; police did not say how much of the loss involved Pokémon items.
What happened at LA Sports Cards?
At about 2:00 a.m. on December 2, 2025, Burbank police responded to a reported commercial burglary in progress at LA Sports Cards, 1922 W. Olive Avenue. Officers found evidence of forced entry at the front of the business and found the interior ransacked. The suspects had left before officers arrived, according to the Burbank Police Department’s January 8, 2026 release.
The incident was described as a “heist” in the headline of an earlier HotHardware report published December 9, 2025. Police classify it as a commercial burglary. Their account confirms forced entry and a ransacked store, but does not establish that the crime lasted exactly three minutes.
What was stolen, and what does the $100,000 figure mean?
After an inventory, police put the estimated total loss at approximately $100,000 in collectible merchandise. They said the stolen property included Pokémon trading card products, rare sports cards and other collectibles. The release does not break down the estimate by category, name individual Pokémon cards or assign values to specific items.

Were suspects arrested?
Police said detectives reviewed surveillance footage and used investigative technology to identify suspects. Officers served search warrants at four locations on December 18, 2025, and January 8, 2026; police said they recovered evidence linking the individuals to the burglary.

The department named four people and said they were arrested and booked for felony burglary:
- Brian Chavez, 22
- Jeremy Lopez, 22
- Marco Barrongil, 26
- Elijah Garcia, 27
These are arrests and allegations, not findings of guilt. The January 8 police release said formal charges were pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. It did not report a charging decision or court outcome.

Why do reports mention different suspect counts?
The December 9 HotHardware story described a trio of masked thieves, while the later police release reported four arrests in connection with the burglary. Those accounts refer to different reporting stages; the official update gives the number of people arrested. The police release does not say how many people were physically present during the break-in, so the arrest count should not be treated as a confirmed count of intruders.
