Is Reading FC up for sale again?
There is no evidence in the cited reports or official records that Reading FC is currently for sale or that a fresh takeover process is under way. BBC Sport reported on 11 August 2026 that some supporters had questioned whether Couhig might stay only short-term. That is reported supporter concern, not an announcement by Couhig that he intends to sell.
In the same report, Couhig said: “I will not be satisfied until I make this club self sustainable and we are well on our way to getting promoted.” The statement describes his stated ambition; it does not confirm a decision about his future at the club. BBC Sport’s 11 August 2026 report does not establish a sale announcement or a new ownership process.
Who owns Reading FC now?
Redwood Holdings acquired 100% of Reading FC’s shareholding on 14 May 2025 after receiving EFL clearance. Rob Couhig became chairman, and Couhig and Todd Trosclair joined the board. The deal included the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park training ground. Reading confirmed completion in its 14 May 2025 club statement; BBC Sport reported the completion and EFL ratification.

Companies House records Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd as a person with significant control from that date and Dai Yongge’s directorship as ending on 14 May 2025. The company record provides a formal ownership timeline, but a filing should be interpreted according to what it actually records. Companies House filing history lists a charge created on 5 May 2026 and registered on 13 May 2026; that filing alone does not establish a sale, change of control, or financial distress.
What is the Paul Taylor update?
Paul Taylor was a bidder for Reading during Yongge’s ownership. City AM reported on 14 August 2026 that the Financial Conduct Authority fined and banned Taylor from financial services after finding he used forged documents purporting to show bonds worth around €200 million (£171 million). Those figures describe the portfolio represented by the documents, not verified assets owned by Taylor.
According to City AM’s report, Taylor used the documents as proof of funds for his Reading bid in 2024 and withdrew his offer in November 2024. The FCA action is a later development concerning a former bidder; it is not evidence of a new offer or current takeover talks.

On 2 January 2026, Couhig rejected rumours that Reading planned to sell its training ground or downgrade its academy. BBC Sport quoted him saying: “There are no plans to sell the training ground and there are no plans to downgrade the academy – both are vital parts of the club’s present and future and any suggestion otherwise is inaccurate and misleading.” This was Couhig’s response to those rumours at that time, not a general guarantee about every future decision. BBC Sport reported his denial.
