The Sheffield United Football Club Limited is listed as active at Companies House, and a public-record review through 25 September 2026 reported no insolvency event against the club company or its immediate parent, Blades Leisure Limited. A different company, COH Sports Bidco Limited, was compulsorily wound up in August 2026. That is a significant ownership-structure development, but it does not mean the operating club itself entered administration.
Is Sheffield United in administration?
Companies House lists The Sheffield United Football Club Limited (company number 00061564) as active. Separately, Paul Quinn’s specialist review for The Esk, covering public records through 25 September 2026, says it found no insolvency event recorded against either the operating club or its immediate parent, Blades Leisure Limited. These findings describe the records and period reviewed; an active Companies House status is not a guarantee of solvency or future funding.
The same review reports that the High Court made a compulsory winding-up order against COH Sports Bidco Limited on 19 August 2026, following a petition by United World over more than £35 million. That court and debt detail is reported by the review; it should not be conflated with an order against Sheffield United Football Club Limited. Administration of the club, liquidation of another company, and financial concerns about the wider ownership structure are different things.
What do Sheffield United’s latest accounts show?
The latest audited accounts available for the operating club cover the financial year ended 30 June 2025 and were approved on 18 December 2025. The figures below are for that club company and reporting period, not a live 2026 position or a consolidated snapshot of every ownership entity.

| Measure | Reported amount | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Profit for the year ended 30 June 2025 | £784,479 | The club company’s result for that financial year, according to its audited accounts. |
| Cash at bank and in hand on 30 June 2025 | £2,775,403 | Cash recorded at the balance-sheet date, according to the audited accounts. |
| Net current liabilities on 30 June 2025 | £51,429,376 | The amount by which current liabilities exceeded current assets at that date, according to the audited accounts. |
| Loan received during the financial year | £11,000,000 | A loan from COH Sports Bidco Limited to the club, as stated in the audited accounts. The specialist review describes it as unsecured and repayable on demand; the accounts say no interest was payable except in the event of default. |
How can the club report a profit and still have substantial liabilities?
Profit measures the result over a financial year; cash is the balance held at a particular date; net current liabilities compare short-term liabilities with short-term assets on that date. They answer different questions. The club’s £784,479 profit for the year ended 30 June 2025 therefore does not mean it had that amount available as cash, while £51,429,376 in net current liabilities at 30 June 2025 does not by itself establish that the company entered administration.
The £11 million loan matters because it was an obligation of the club to its then parent, not evidence that the purchaser vehicle’s own debts and the club’s obligations were one and the same. The specialist review says the loan was unsecured and repayable on demand. The accounts describe the interest terms, but these figures do not establish what funding was available after the balance-sheet date.

Which Sheffield United company was wound up?
The company reported wound up was COH Sports Bidco Limited, the vehicle that had acquired Blades Leisure Limited. It is not the same legal entity as The Sheffield United Football Club Limited, which operates the club. The winding-up order against the purchaser vehicle cannot, on its own, be treated as proof that the club company was placed into administration.
The distinction also matters when reading the accounts. The 2025 club accounts say COH Sports Bidco acquired all of Blades Leisure on 23 December 2024, and identify COH Sports United LLC as the ultimate parent at that time, jointly controlled by trusts of Stephen H Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy. The Esk’s later review says the club was moved under a new Delaware entity in June 2026, but that the transfer mechanics and consideration were not public. The 2025 ownership description should not be assumed to represent the structure after that reported change.

What can supporters establish now, and what remains uncertain?
Companies House lists the club company’s latest accounts as made up to 30 June 2025 and says accounts to 30 June 2026 are due by 31 March 2027. Those later accounts had not yet fallen due as of 8 October 2026, so the 2025 figures should not be presented as the club’s current cash or liability position.
The Esk review’s findings about insolvency events cover public records through 25 September 2026. It also says litigation is live and that key details of the reported 2026 ownership transfer are not public. Those limits matter: the available evidence supports neither a claim that the club is safe from future financial trouble nor a claim that the club company itself has entered administration. Companies House also cautions that its register does not check the accuracy of filed information, so a recorded status or ownership filing should be read as a register entry rather than a guarantee.
