No—not from 25% DA alone. Using the existing 7th CPC Level 8 entry basic pay of ₹47,600, adding 25% gives ₹59,500. A figure of ₹1,52,915 (about ₹1.53 lakh) comes from also applying the old 7th CPC fitment factor of 2.57. That is an illustrative calculation, not an announced 8th CPC salary formula.
8th Pay Commission Level 8 calculator: the two calculations
These examples start with ₹47,600, the first cell in the existing 7th CPC Level 8 pay matrix. It is not an announced 8th CPC starting basic pay. The ₹59,500 and ₹1,52,915 results are arithmetic based on the stated inputs, not government-announced pay figures.

| Illustration | Calculation | Result | What it represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25% added to entry basic pay | ₹47,600 × 1.25 | ₹59,500 | Entry basic pay plus a hypothetical 25% DA amount |
| Old fitment factor, then 25% | ₹47,600 × 2.57 × 1.25 | ₹1,52,915 | A constructed illustration combining the historical 7th CPC factor with hypothetical 25% DA |
The first calculation breaks down as ₹47,600 × 25% = ₹11,900, then ₹47,600 + ₹11,900 = ₹59,500. The second first multiplies ₹47,600 by 2.57 to get ₹1,22,332, then multiplies that result by 1.25 to get ₹1,52,915.

The 2.57 factor belongs to the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s proposed 7th CPC fitment method. Its report said existing basic pay would be multiplied by 2.57 and fitted into the corresponding new pay-matrix level, using the next higher cell where necessary. The report also said the factor included 2.25 for DA neutralisation, based on an assumption of 125% DA at implementation. See the Seventh Central Pay Commission report, sections 5.1.27–5.1.29.

That historical factor is not an announced 8th CPC policy. Adding another 25% after it may count a DA adjustment again, because DA neutralisation was already built into the old 2.57 factor. The ₹1,52,915 figure is therefore a what-if result from combining separate assumptions, not a forecast, recommendation or notified salary.

The Cabinet approved the 8th CPC Terms of Reference on 28 October 2025. The Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 and given 18 months to submit recommendations. The Cabinet release said an effect from 1 January 2026 would normally be expected under the usual ten-year cycle; that statement is an expectation, not confirmation that a pay formula was approved or implemented. See the Cabinet’s Terms of Reference announcement and the 8th CPC’s official status page.

How to read these estimates
- Starting basic versus your actual basic: ₹47,600 is the first Level 8 cell in the 7th CPC matrix, not necessarily an employee’s current basic pay. The Department of Expenditure’s Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016 lists the existing matrix.
- Basic pay versus pay after DA: The ₹59,500 illustration adds 25% of the entry basic. It does not establish that 25% is the applicable DA rate. An official April 2026 DA-order listing was surfaced, but its rate text was not available to verify here; check the relevant order before treating 25% as current.
- Illustration versus take-home pay: Neither result is take-home salary. The calculations omit other allowances and deductions and do not use an employee’s actual Level 8 cell.
