777 Partners did not buy Everton: its proposed purchase of Farhad Moshiri’s stake expired on June 1, 2024, and The Friedkin Group later completed the acquisition of the club. No reliable current net-worth figure for 777 Partners, or verified current list of its football-club holdings, is established by the available official and reported material.
Did 777 Partners buy Everton?
No. In September 2023, 777 Partners agreed to buy Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in Everton, subject to regulatory approvals. That proposed transaction did not complete: Everton said the agreement had expired on June 1, 2024. The Friedkin Group subsequently completed its acquisition of Everton, so 777 Partners should not be described as the club’s owner.
| Date | What happened | Status |
|---|---|---|
| September 15, 2023 | 777 Partners agreed to purchase Moshiri’s 94.1% Everton stake. | Proposed deal, subject to regulatory approvals |
| June 1, 2024 | Everton said the sale agreement with 777 Partners had expired and that it would assess future ownership options. | Agreement expired; acquisition did not complete |
| Later | The Friedkin Group’s acquisition was approved and ratified, and Everton announced the ownership change. | Completed acquisition |
When the proposed sale was announced, 777 Partners co-founder and managing partner Josh Wander said the firm’s objective was to develop Everton’s men’s and women’s teams’ sporting and commercial infrastructure. That was a statement made about the proposed transaction, not evidence that 777 Partners took ownership. Everton’s board later acknowledged the financial support 777 Partners had provided to the club “over recent months”; that comment belongs to the 2024 period and does not change the outcome of the sale.
What is 777 Partners’ net worth?
A reliable current net-worth figure for 777 Partners is not established by the available official and reported material. Treat estimates that lack a transparent source and date with caution; an investment firm’s net worth is not interchangeable with the value of a club or the amount of a financial allegation.

Why the $500 million figure is not a net-worth estimate
In October 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice said Joshua Wander, a co-founder of 777 Partners, had been charged in connection with an alleged scheme to defraud private lenders and investors of more than $500 million. This is an allegation by prosecutors, not a conviction, a finding of liability, or a valuation of 777 Partners. The figure should not be presented as the firm’s net worth or as an adjudicated loss.
Which football clubs does 777 Partners own?
777 Partners was associated with a multi-club investment portfolio, but a verified current club-by-club ownership list is not established by the available material. Historical references to clubs or stakes do not by themselves show who owns or controls those clubs now. Ownership can change, and a minority investment is not necessarily equivalent to control.

For that reason, there is no reliable current list to present here. Confirming one would require up-to-date club-level evidence identifying the investor’s stake, any control rights, regulatory approvals and the club’s present owner. The available information does not support asserting that 777 Partners currently owns Everton or any particular other club.
Who owns Everton now?
The Friedkin Group completed its acquisition of Everton after the 777 Partners agreement expired. The Premier League reported that the acquisition had been approved and ratified, and Everton separately announced the takeover. The relevant ownership change is therefore The Friedkin Group’s completed purchase, not the abandoned 777 Partners proposal.

What the Everton episode says about football takeovers
An agreed sale is not the same as a completed takeover. In the Everton transaction, the proposed purchase was conditional on regulatory approval, and the agreement ultimately expired before completion. The EFL’s guidance says that, from May 5, 2026, its Owners, Directors and Senior Executives regime applies under the Independent Football Regulator framework; prospective owners must demonstrate the ultimate source of the money proposed for the acquisition and club funding. That is general regulatory context, not evidence of a current 777 Partners bid for an English club.
