As of August 18, 2026, Best Buy has not confirmed a Halloween gaming-PC promotion or published an October 2026 Halloween deal list. Its U.S. catalog does list desktops with current-generation NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards, but a product appearing on a sale page is not proof of a special Halloween offer—or a good deal. The seven picks below are therefore shopping criteria, not verified product recommendations with live prices. Check the exact listing, price, seller, stock, and return terms before buying; those details can change by date and ZIP code.
Use this guide to judge Best Buy prebuilt desktop deals as they appear during the Halloween shopping period. It distinguishes a genuinely useful configuration from one that merely advertises a large discount. Halloween is Saturday, October 31, 2026, but there is no confirmed date for any Best Buy promotion. Browse Best Buy’s gaming desktop category and verify each product page directly.
What counts as a Best Buy Halloween gaming PC deal?
At the time of the August 18, 2026 check, Best Buy’s visible gaming-desktop listings and deal pages showed ordinary sale, Tech Fest, or category promotions—not a verified Halloween offer. Best Buy’s catalog spans RTX 5060 through RTX 5090 and Radeon RX 9060 XT and RX 9070-class systems, along with brands including CyberPowerPC, iBUYPOWER, Lenovo, HP OMEN, ASUS, MSI, Acer, Alienware, CLX, and Skytech. That range makes it important to compare the whole configuration, not just the brand or discount badge. See Best Buy gaming PC deal listings and review the catalog and available filters.
A real deal is a strong computer at a credible price for its exact SKU—not simply a computer with a crossed-out price. Best Buy’s comparison prices may not represent the lowest recent market price. Compare the model number and configuration with the manufacturer’s page and other current retailers, and use price history if available. Do not call a discount exceptional without evidence.

Seven Best Buy deal categories to look for
No exact October SKU, live price, seller, or open-box condition was verified for these recommendations. Treat each as a category to fill only when a current Best Buy listing meets the stated checks; do not assume a listing is in stock or that any advertised price is still available.
| Pick | What to target | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget 1080p | RTX 5060 or RX 9060-class, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, modern six-core-or-better CPU | Value-focused gaming, especially at 1080p | Less performance headroom for demanding settings and future games |
| Mainstream 1440p value | RTX 5070 or RX 9070-class, preferably 32GB RAM and 1TB or 2TB SSD | High-quality 1440p play | Performance varies by game, settings, cooling, and CPU balance |
| 1440p with more VRAM | RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RX 9060 XT 16GB, with upgradeable memory and storage | Texture-heavy games and some creator workloads | VRAM capacity does not by itself make a card faster |
| AMD performance-per-dollar | RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT system with 32GB RAM and disclosed PSU | Buyers prioritizing raster gaming value | Compare the feature set and workload needs against NVIDIA alternatives |
| Premium 1440p | RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM, at least 1TB SSD | High-refresh 1440p and demanding mixed use | Paying extra for a flagship CPU may not improve gaming value |
| High-end 4K | RTX 5080-class, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD or a clear expansion path | Premium 4K, ray tracing, or demanding creator work | High cost and poor value if the target is only 1080p |
| Open-box or clearance | Any suitable configuration with visible condition, accessories, seller, warranty, and return details | Experienced buyers comfortable checking condition | Potentially missing parts, cosmetic damage, or less favorable terms |
1. Best budget 1080p deal
Look for the least expensive complete desktop that combines an RTX 5060 or RX 9060-class GPU with 16GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a modern six-core-or-better processor. This tier is a sensible place to start for budget-conscious 1080p gaming, but actual results depend on the game and graphics settings. Avoid systems with old GTX cards, GT 1030, RX 560, only 8GB RAM, or a 512GB drive unless the listing is clearly positioned for basic esports use and priced accordingly.
Sixteen gigabytes is acceptable at this budget, though less comfortable when a game runs alongside browsers, Discord, or streaming software. Confirm whether memory is upgradeable and whether the system has an accessible slot before treating an upgrade as easy.

2. Best mainstream 1440p value
For a general-purpose 1440p desktop, compare RTX 5070 and RX 9070-class systems. Aim for 32GB RAM and at least a 1TB SSD; 2TB is more convenient for a large game library. These GPU tiers are plausible mainstream choices, not guaranteed performance levels: frame rates vary with the title, CPU, resolution, settings, ray tracing, upscaling, and thermal design.
Prefer a balanced CPU and GPU over an expensive flagship processor paired with a less capable graphics card. A credible discount should be calculated from a verified current and recent price for the exact configuration, not inferred from Best Buy’s “was” or comparable-value figure.
3. Best 1440p system with more VRAM
When two otherwise comparable choices are close in price, an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RX 9060 XT 16GB system may offer more room for high-resolution textures and some creator workloads than an 8GB card. Treat VRAM as a longevity and workload factor, not a substitute for GPU performance: a slower 16GB card is not automatically faster or better than a faster 12GB one.
Check the full GPU name and memory capacity in the exact listing. Do not assume that a product title containing “5060 Ti” or “9060 XT” identifies the memory variant.

- High-Speed Memory & Storage – Paired with 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz dual-channel RAM (16GB), the PC ensures responsive multitasking—whether streaming while gaming or editing videos. It also includes a 512 GB NVMe M.2 SSD for lightning-fast boot times, quick game loads, and ample storage for your game library, creative projects, and files.
- Next-Gen WiFi 6 Connectivity – Stay connected with the latest WiFi 6 technology for faster speeds, lower latency, and improved network efficiency. Whether you're gaming online, streaming 4K content, or joining video conferences, enjoy stable, high-speed wireless connectivity.
- Ready-to-Use Value Desktop – Pre-built and ready to go right out of the box. Perfect for gamers, students, content creators, and home office users seeking reliable performance without the hassle of building a PC themselves. The mature AM4 platform with DDR4 memory offers excellent value and proven stability.
4. Best AMD performance-per-dollar alternative
Compare Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT desktops against similarly priced GeForce systems. An AMD build may offer compelling raw raster performance for its price, while NVIDIA-specific features may matter more to a buyer who prioritizes particular ray-tracing, AI, streaming, or creator workflows. The right choice depends on the games and software you use; the GPU label alone does not settle it.
Look for a named power supply, sufficient PSU wattage for the exact configuration, and a clear cooling layout. If the listing omits the PSU model, motherboard, or cooler, treat those as unknown rather than assuming quality from the graphics-card brand.
5. Best premium RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti system
A premium 1440p recommendation should deliver more than a high CPU model number or extra lighting. Target an RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM, and at least a 1TB SSD; favor 2TB or an accessible expansion path if you keep many large games installed. A capable Ryzen 5/Ryzen 7 or Core i5/Core i7 may be a better-balanced gaming choice than paying for a flagship processor that does not materially improve the experience you want.
Before calling it a deal, verify that the sale is meaningful against a credible recent price and that the system has suitable power and cooling. If those components are undisclosed, the premium price is harder to justify.

6. Best high-end RTX 5080 system
An RTX 5080-class desktop belongs on a shortlist for premium 4K, ray tracing, or demanding creator work—not as a default choice for 1080p gaming. Look for 32GB RAM, 2TB storage or an explicitly useful upgrade path, an appropriate power supply, and cooling suited to the GPU. A high price on a sale page does not make a system a bargain.
Best Buy listings previously showed an ASUS ROG G700 with RTX 5080, 32GB RAM, and 2TB storage at $3,179.99. That earlier listing is a benchmark signal only, not a live offer or a confirmed Halloween recommendation. Check Best Buy’s RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 filters for current listings.
7. Best open-box or clearance bargain
Only consider an open-box PC after the product page identifies its condition grade, included accessories, seller, warranty handling, and return period. Look for details on Wi-Fi antennas and other included parts, and check whether the original manufacturer warranty or rebate eligibility applies. Missing accessories, replaced components, cosmetic damage, or a shorter return window can erase the apparent savings.
This is a poor fit for many gift buyers, who may value pristine condition and straightforward returns more than a lower price. Do not recommend an open-box listing when its condition or terms cannot be verified.

How to compare a desktop before buying
Prioritize the GPU and match it to your screen
For gaming, the graphics card usually matters more than excess CPU cores or decorative features. Broadly, RTX 5060 and RX 9060-class cards are entry-level or mainstream 1080p options; RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RX 9060 XT 16GB add potential headroom for heavier textures and some 1440p use; RTX 5070 and RX 9070-class cards target mainstream 1440p; RTX 5070 Ti and RX 9070 XT suit higher-refresh 1440p and entry-level 4K; RTX 5080 and above target premium 4K, ray tracing, or demanding creator work. These are buying tiers, not universal game-performance promises.
Check memory, storage, and upgradeability
- RAM: 16GB is workable for a budget system; 32GB is the preferred target for midrange and premium 2026 gaming desktops. Check module count, occupied slots, and manufacturer upgrade rules.
- Storage: A 1TB SSD is a practical minimum; 2TB is useful in a premium system. Confirm whether the drive is a standard replaceable SSD, its interface where listed, and whether a free M.2 or SATA slot is available.
- Expansion: Check the exact system’s specifications or service manual for free slots and standard components. Do not assume a desktop is easy to upgrade because it has a tower-shaped case; some systems use proprietary boards or limited layouts.
Inspect power, cooling, and included software
Look for the PSU wattage, 80 Plus rating if provided, manufacturer and model, and the GPU’s power connector. Check whether the CPU uses an air cooler or liquid cooler and how many case fans are included. A mesh-front case can be a useful airflow indicator, but RGB lighting alone does not establish good cooling. If the listing does not disclose a component, treat it as unknown rather than inferring its quality.
Confirm whether Windows 11 is included and whether Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, keyboard, or mouse are bundled if you need them. Do not assume these accessories or features come with every prebuilt.
Verify seller, stock, and purchase terms
- Open the exact product page and record the model or SKU, current U.S. price, displayed prior or comparable price, and any stated sale end time.
- Check the “sold and shipped by” line. Marketplace seller terms, warranty handling, and return policies can differ from Best Buy-sold inventory.
- Check delivery and pickup for your ZIP code; stock, shipping, and local availability can vary.
- Read the return and exchange terms for that item and condition. For open-box products, verify the condition grade, accessories, warranty, and return window before ordering.
- Compare the exact configuration and recent price elsewhere. A Best Buy sale badge or a large stated discount is not enough to establish value.
Best Buy’s category and filters help locate products, but listing details must be checked at the point of purchase. Browse sale-filtered gaming desktops. Best Buy has also advertised “save up to $400” on select gaming desktops in a Best Buy-specific collection; that offer is time-sensitive and should not be mistaken for a current Halloween promotion. Check the Best Buy-specific PC gaming deals page.

Should you buy now or wait for Black Friday?
There is no universal answer. Best Buy has not confirmed the timing or scope of a Halloween promotion, and Halloween deals could start earlier, end before October 31, or give way to early holiday offers. A buyer who does not need a PC immediately may choose to wait and compare November prices; waiting does not guarantee that a specific model will be cheaper or remain in stock.
Quick Recap
- Buy now if the exact configuration suits your use, its price is convincingly low against recent prices, the seller and return terms work for you, and you accept the risk that stock may disappear.
- Wait if the discount is weak or unverified, key components such as the PSU are undisclosed, the system is a poor match for your display, or you are comfortable shopping later.
- Consider alternatives if desktop prices do not fit your budget, you need portability, or you prefer to build and upgrade independently. A prebuilt may be the better fit when you want Windows preinstalled and one vendor for system support.
