For most people, Rocket Money is the best starting point for finding forgotten recurring charges and getting cancellation help. Hiatus is the stronger choice if you also want bill negotiation. Trim is the best browser-first option, while Bobby and TrackMySubs are better for people who prefer manual tracking and do not want to connect bank accounts.
These services are not universal cancellation buttons. They can detect, record, explain, or assist with eligible subscriptions, but Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, PayPal, and individual merchants may require you to complete cancellation yourself. Always confirm the cancellation and check a later statement.

Rocket Money is the best all-around choice for readers who want an automated audit of recurring expenses plus help acting on the results. It analyzes connected bank and credit-card transactions and organizes detected bills and subscriptions in its Recurring area.
#1 Best Overall
Tracking is available on the free plan. Its Premium service adds features including an assisted cancellation option. Premium pricing is flexible and can vary by offer, account, or billing channel, so compare the price with what you realistically expect to save.
How to request cancellation
- Open the mobile app and select Recurring.
- Tap All.
- Use the three-dot menu beside the subscription.
- Select Cancel.
- Choose Cancel This For Me when the provider is supported, or choose View Instructions to cancel yourself.
On the website, the documented path is Recurring → View All → three-dot menu → Cancel this for me. See Rocket Money’s cancellation instructions before starting.
Rocket Money cannot cancel every provider. Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, PayPal, and other intermediaries may control the billing relationship, and some merchants do not permit third-party cancellation. A transaction can also be misclassified or may not represent an active subscription. Rocket Money notes that charges from unconnected accounts may need to be added manually.

2. Hiatus: best for cancellation plus bill negotiation
Hiatus combines subscription monitoring with spending analysis, cancellation assistance, and negotiation of certain household bills. That makes it a better fit than a narrowly focused tracker when your goal is to reduce recurring spending more broadly.
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
Its documented workflow is to open the dashboard, scroll to Recurring Expenses, choose Cancellable, select a subscription, and follow the supplied process. In the All tab, some providers may not permit third-party cancellation; Hiatus then provides instructions or links for contacting the provider directly.
Hiatus offers a free version and Premium. April 2026 secondary coverage listed Premium at $10 per month, but that is a dated price signal rather than a permanent U.S. price guarantee. Premium renews automatically until canceled, and uninstalling the app does not cancel the plan. Hiatus’s terms say users should cancel at least three business days before a scheduled payment date.
Bill negotiation is not the same as subscription cancellation. It may have separate eligibility rules, fees, and terms, so review the offer before authorizing it.
Best for: People who want subscription cleanup and help reducing telecom, insurance, or other household bills. Skip it if: You need only a free list of known subscriptions.
3. Trim: best browser-first option
Trim is a browser-accessed financial service for readers who would rather manage recurring expenses on the web than rely on a dedicated mobile app. Current comparison coverage describes it as connecting to a bank account, summarizing spending, identifying regular charges, and helping cancel or negotiate some services.
Rank #3
Trim is best presented with a qualification: pricing, supported institutions, availability, and eligibility can change, and the available evidence does not establish one universal current fee. Tracking functions have been described as free, while negotiation may involve a success-based or other fee. Confirm the live signup and terms pages before committing.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallAs with other connected-account services, Trim cannot automatically see accounts you have not linked, and it may not handle every merchant or billing intermediary. A negotiation fee can be sensible for a large household bill but poor value for a $5 subscription.
Best for: Readers who want a browser-based service and possible bill negotiation. Skip it if: You want clearly defined low-cost manual tracking or do not want to share account data.
4. Bobby: best private manual tracker for iPhone
Bobby takes the opposite approach: you enter each service, price, billing interval, and renewal date yourself. It then shows recurring costs and sends due-date notifications. It does not scan bank statements, so it does not require a bank connection for its core tracking function.
The U.S. App Store listing describes a free download with in-app purchases, including All-in-one Pack prices of $1.99 and $2.99 when listed. It requires iOS 14 or later and is positioned primarily for iPhone users. App Store prices and bundles can change.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRank #4
Bobby is useful for making annual software, cloud storage, memberships, and occasional services visible. It can calculate monthly and annual totals and warn you before a renewal. But manual entry is also its limitation: a forgotten subscription will remain invisible unless you add it, and price increases can make an entry outdated.
Best for: Privacy-conscious iPhone users with a manageable list of known subscriptions. Skip it if: You need automatic discovery or automatic cancellation.
5. TrackMySubs: best simple web tracker without bank linking
TrackMySubs is a straightforward account-based tracker. You enter a service, billing date, amount, and category, then receive reminders before payments or trial periods end. It is particularly useful for annual renewals and free trials that might otherwise slip past you.
April 2026 coverage reported free tracking for up to 10 subscriptions and a $10-per-month paid plan. Confirm the current limits and pricing on the official site before subscribing. TrackMySubs is primarily a reminder tool, not a universal cancellation concierge: it cannot find an account you forgot to enter, and you generally still cancel with the merchant.

How to choose
- Want automatic discovery? Start with Rocket Money or Hiatus.
- Want bill negotiation too? Compare Hiatus and Trim, including their current fees.
- Do not want to link a bank? Choose Bobby or TrackMySubs, or use a spreadsheet and calendar reminders.
- Want a browser? Consider Trim or TrackMySubs.
- Want a low-cost iPhone tracker? Bobby is the focused manual option.
Do not automatically cancel every charge labeled “subscription.” An unused subscription might be a service you rarely need but intentionally keep, such as cloud backup, emergency assistance, identity monitoring, or professional software. It might also be a duplicate plan, an annual renewal, or a free trial that converted to paid service.
What these apps can miss
Connected services infer recurring charges from transaction descriptions and payment patterns. They may miss cash or check payments, subscriptions paid from unlinked accounts, family-member accounts, irregular annual or quarterly bills, bundled memberships, changed merchant names, and purchases billed through Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, or PayPal.
They can also produce false positives. A recurring-looking transaction may be a payment plan, utility bill, donation, medical payment, membership fee, or one-time purchase with a similar descriptor. Check the merchant, recent usage, renewal date, cancellation policy, and what happens to saved data or benefits before acting.
How to cancel safely
- Identify the actual biller. Check the receipt, account page, or card statement. The app developer may not be the company controlling billing.
- Use the merchant or billing platform’s cancellation path. For Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, and PayPal charges, open that platform’s subscription controls. Third-party help may only provide instructions.
- Distinguish cancellation from deletion. Stopping future renewal may leave access through the paid period. It is different from an immediate termination, refund, account deletion, or data deletion.
- Save proof. Keep the confirmation email or screenshot and record the cancellation and effective dates.
- Check again. Review the merchant account and the next bank or card statement. Deleting an app does not cancel its subscription.
The Federal Trade Commission advises consumers to understand recurring-payment terms, follow the stated cancellation process, and keep cancellation records. If a charge appears after confirmed cancellation, contact the merchant promptly and follow your card issuer’s dispute procedures if necessary. Replacing a card alone is not a reliable cancellation strategy and can disrupt legitimate payments.
Will linking a bank account save more money?
It can make forgotten charges easier to find, reduce manual entry, and support alerts based on actual transactions. The trade-off is that the service and its account-linking provider receive financial-account data. No service guarantees perfect classification. Before connecting an account, review the privacy policy, supported institutions, data-retention terms, connected-account list, and account-removal process.
If that trade-off is unacceptable, a manual tracker, spreadsheet, or calendar can be enough. For someone with three or four known subscriptions, a free system may save more than a paid financial app.
Calculate whether a paid app is worthwhile
Use this simple formula:
Annual savings = canceled monthly charges × 12 + canceled annual charges + avoided trial conversions − app fees or cancellation fees.
Recommended Free Tools
For example, canceling a $12.99 monthly subscription saves about $155.88 per year before taxes or app fees. That is an illustration, not a typical savings claim. A $10 monthly service costs $120 per year, so it may be poor value if it helps cancel only one $5 subscription.
