How to compare Amazon alternatives without overpaying
Do not compare only the price shown on the product page. Before choosing a retailer, compare:
- Final delivered price: Include shipping, taxes, delivery tips, membership costs, and minimum-order fees.
- Exact product: Check the model number, size, quantity, color, condition, and included accessories.

3. eBay: better for used and hard-to-find products
eBay can beat Amazon when you are looking for discontinued items, collectibles, used products, refurbished electronics, or a specific older model. Auctions can sometimes produce savings, although bidding can also push the price above a comparable fixed-price listing.

Gold Star membership currently costs $65 per year; Executive membership costs $130.
