The 2025 Masters had a $21 million purse. Rory McIlroy won $4.2 million, Justin Rose earned $2.268 million for second, Scottie Scheffler received $1.008 million for fourth, and Bryson DeChambeau earned $798,000 for a tie for fifth. These are payouts from one tournament—not salaries or full-year earnings.
How much did the four golfers earn at the 2025 Masters?
| Golfer | Finish | Masters prize money |
|---|---|---|
| Rory McIlroy | 1st | $4,200,000 |
| Justin Rose | 2nd | $2,268,000 |
| Scottie Scheffler | 4th | $1,008,000 |
| Bryson DeChambeau | T5 | $798,000 |
Golf Channel’s 2025 Masters payout table reports all four finishes and amounts. CBS Sports independently reports the headline payouts and the $21 million purse in its coverage of the tournament’s prize money.
Why these amounts are prize money, not salaries
A golfer’s Masters payout is money awarded for a result in this event. It is not a recurring salary, a measure of total income, career earnings, or net worth. The figures above describe the tournament’s distribution, not what any player earned from sponsorships or other competitions.
CBS Sports reported that 53 players made the cut and shared the 2025 purse, and that the top four finishers each earned at least $1 million. McIlroy’s $4.2 million winner’s payout was $600,000 more than Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 Masters winner payout, according to the same report.

How the finish determined the payout
McIlroy took first place after a playoff with Rose. They were tied after regulation, and Golf Channel reports that Rose lost in sudden death; CBS describes the tournament as taking 73 holes to decide. The Masters’ official round-four pairing PDF provides final-round scorecard context for contenders, including McIlroy and DeChambeau, but it is not a prize-money results table. The payout amounts in this article are attributed to Golf Channel and CBS Sports.
For the four named players, the reported amounts follow their finish positions: McIlroy’s win paid the most, Rose’s runner-up finish paid next, and Scheffler’s fourth-place payout exceeded DeChambeau’s tie-for-fifth amount.
