Neither figure is an out-the-door price. Ask a dealer for an itemized quote that includes destination, taxes, title, registration, setup or prep, and any accessories before deciding whether it fits your budget.
What does a 2024 Yamaha XSR700 cost?
Yamaha’s 2024 XSR700 specifications page lists an $8,599 MSRP and says that MSRP excludes tax, title, prep, and destination charges; actual prices are set by the dealer. Yamaha’s current overview page for the 2024 model route displays $8,899 and a $550 destination charge. That page says dealer prices may vary and excludes tax, license, registration, and dealer-installed options and accessories.
The two official pages do not explain the difference between their displayed prices. Treat each as the figure shown in its stated context—not as proof of a specific price revision or the price you will pay. The overview figure is page content accessed October 7, 2026, and may change. Request a written, itemized local quote and compare the total due, not just the advertised MSRP.
What to include in an out-the-door quote
- Motorcycle selling price and any discount or dealer markup
- Destination and setup or prep charges
- Sales tax, title, license, and registration
- Dealer-installed accessories or other add-ons, listed separately
Yamaha’s stated exclusions vary between the two pages, so ask the dealer to identify each charge rather than assuming one page’s list covers every fee. The sources do not establish a universal out-the-door total.

How the XSR700 may fit your riding and budget
Engine and everyday use
The 689 cc twin, six-speed gearbox, and chain final drive are the core mechanical package. Yamaha’s features page describes the 270-degree crank and claims 50 lb-ft of torque. That figure can help you understand Yamaha’s positioning, but it is not a promise of a particular real-world acceleration or fuel-use result.

Weight, seat height, and ergonomics
Yamaha lists a 410 lb wet weight and 32.9 in seat height. Use those figures as starting points when comparing motorcycles, not as substitutes for trying one in person: seat shape, leg reach, balance at a stop, and how the motorcycle feels while being maneuvered all matter. Yamaha describes an upright position, tall and wide handlebar, two-level seat, and foot controls intended for street riding. Sit on the bike and check reach, comfort, and control position yourself.
Suspension and braking
The fork and rear shock each have 5.1 in of published travel; Yamaha specifies preload adjustment at the rear. Standard ABS is listed for both ends. The conflicting published front-disc measurements mean you should verify rotor details against the exact motorcycle or its official documentation if that specification affects your decision.

Fuel and recurring costs
Yamaha estimates 58 mpg and lists a 3.7-gallon tank. Actual consumption depends on conditions and riding, so the estimate is not a guaranteed result and should not be used to promise a fixed range. For ownership budgeting, also ask about insurance, maintenance, registration, and tire installation in your area; no costs for those items are established here.
Tires and replacement fitment
Yamaha specifies Michelin Road 5 tires in 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear sizes. Check the sidewall and owner’s manual for the exact motorcycle and market before ordering replacements, and confirm the chosen tire suits your use. A matching size alone is not a complete fitment or suitability check.

How to compare the XSR700 with other motorcycles
Compare it with specific alternatives using like-for-like information and current local quotes. A lower listed price may not mean a lower purchase total, and a single seat-height or weight number does not determine how a bike will feel to you.
- Total cost: Compare itemized out-the-door quotes, including destination, setup, taxes, registration, and accessories.
- Fit and handling: Compare wet weight and seat height, then sit on each motorcycle and assess reach and control position.
- Engine character: Compare engine layout and published torque claims, while distinguishing manufacturer figures from independent measurements.
- Chassis equipment: Check suspension travel and adjustability, ABS availability, and verified brake specifications.
- Running costs: Compare fuel-tank capacity, estimated economy, tire sizes and replacement pricing, warranty terms, and local dealer support.
No alternative model’s specifications or price are established here, so use each manufacturer’s current documentation and dealer quote for a fair comparison.

What Yamaha says about safety
Yamaha’s model overview advises riders to read the owner’s manual and product warning labels before operation. It recommends a helmet, eye protection, a riding jacket or long-sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves, and boots. Treat this as Yamaha’s safety guidance; choose protective equipment appropriate to your riding and local requirements.
