Lexus lists 366 horsepower, standard DIRECT4 all-wheel drive and an estimated 27 mpg combined. But the $55,050 figure often quoted for the TX is the range’s starting MSRP—not the 500h’s specific price—and it says nothing about what a used example should cost today. The value depends on the exact vehicle and what comparable SUVs cost.
What you get with the 2024 TX 500h
The TX 500h is a turbocharged 2.4-liter parallel hybrid with DIRECT4 all-wheel drive and a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. It is not a plug-in hybrid: there is no need to plug in to use its hybrid powertrain. Lexus offered it in F SPORT Performance Premium and F SPORT Performance Luxury grades. Confirm a particular vehicle’s grade and equipment by its VIN and actual specification, since trim names alone may not establish every installed feature.
Lexus’s 2024 brochure lists 366 net combined horsepower and 409 lb-ft of torque. The brochure’s fuel-economy figures are 27 mpg city, 28 highway and 27 combined. Those are manufacturer estimates, not a promise of what a particular driver will achieve. Lexus’s October 2023 launch release gives a different torque figure—406 lb-ft—so the year-specific brochure figure is the clearest one to use when comparing published specifications.
How the TX 500h compares with the other TX powertrains

The 500h’s case is therefore not simply “the most efficient TX.” It combines a hybrid system with a performance-oriented specification. A buyer who specifically wants electric-only driving capability should compare the 550h+ rather than assuming the 500h has a plug-in range.

What the published space and efficiency figures say
The TX 500h is configured for six, with second-row captain’s chairs. Lexus lists 33.5 inches of third-row legroom, 20.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all seats up and 97 cubic feet with the rear rows folded. Lexus’s overview also gives 57.4 cubic feet with the third row folded. These are manufacturer-published capacity and dimension figures, not a substitute for checking whether the seating and cargo arrangement works for your passengers and belongings.
For a family that regularly uses all three rows, the 20.2-cubic-foot figure with every seat in use is the most relevant cargo number. If you often carry larger loads, consider how frequently the rear rows will be folded and whether the six-seat layout suits your needs.

Does the price justify the hybrid luxury premium?
Lexus’s October 2023 launch announcement gives $55,050, including delivery, processing and handling, as the starting MSRP for the 2024 TX range. That is not an established TX 500h MSRP. The available official pricing information here also does not establish a current used-market value, so neither figure is enough to decide whether a specific 500h is fairly priced.
For a purchase decision, compare the actual asking price with similar three-row SUVs and, where possible, comparable TX 500h examples. Match the details that drive value rather than comparing a headline price in isolation:

- Exact grade and equipment: verify the vehicle’s trim and installed options.
- Condition and mileage: assess the specific vehicle, not just the model year.
- Service history: review available maintenance records and vehicle history.
- Full purchase terms: compare the total price and financing terms, not only a monthly payment.
- Your priorities: decide how much value you place on the performance hybrid, standard AWD and six-seat configuration compared with a less expensive alternative.
The premium is easier to justify if those characteristics are central to your needs and the vehicle’s price is competitive with comparable options. If you mainly want a three-row SUV and do not value the 500h’s particular powertrain or grade, paying extra may not make financial sense. A 27-mpg combined estimate alone cannot establish lifetime savings: fuel costs depend on actual driving, fuel prices and the price difference between vehicles.

Lexus’s materials establish its claimed specifications and estimates; they do not establish real-world fuel economy, independent performance results, reliability over time, repair costs or what a particular used TX 500h is worth today. Treat those as separate questions when evaluating a vehicle, and use its inspection, records and actual market comparisons rather than inferring answers from the brochure.
