The $17.5 million settlement concerns Infosys McCamish Systems LLC, an Infosys BPM subsidiary whose systems were encrypted by ransomware in November 2023. The incident affected information handled for financial-services companies and their customers. Infosys’s later filing states that a court granted final approval on December 18, 2025.
Eligible U.S. residents may qualify for documented-loss reimbursement, credit monitoring, or a residual cash payment. The settlement does not guarantee a particular payout, and it does not establish that Infosys Limited’s entire corporate network was breached.

- How to Refill the Ink: there are 4 pieces of ID stamp refills, each is about 1.5 ml, you just need to unscrew the cap of the ink bottle (not disposable, you can close the cap for next time of use), then insert it into the hole on the side of the stamp, then turn it upside down, about 5 minutes later, the most of the ink will be replenished to the security roller stamp
This is why some coverage calls the incident a “third-party breach.” McCamish was the service provider operating the affected systems. The more precise description is a service-provider breach affecting data connected to downstream financial-services customers—not necessarily an intrusion into Infosys Limited’s general corporate network.
Infosys’s SEC filing describes the ransomware incident, related litigation, and settlement.
Which Infosys companies are involved?
The defendant was Infosys McCamish Systems LLC, commonly called McCamish or IMS. McCamish is a subsidiary of Infosys BPM Limited, which is wholly owned by Infosys Limited.

How many people were affected?
Several figures appear in public disclosures, but they describe different reporting contexts:
Rank #2
- WHAT DOES IT COVER: Roll once over names, addresses, account numbers, barcodes, and prescription details on mail, statements, shipping labels, and boxes before recycling. The patented 0.5" masking pattern hides 3 lines of text in one pass.
- HOW MANY USES DO YOU GET: Each pre-inked Guard Your ID Advanced Roller delivers about 1,000 impressions (roughly 100 feet of coverage), so the 3-pack gives you around 3,000. A twist-on cap keeps the ink fresh for a 2-year shelf life.
- DOES IT WORK ON GLOSSY LABELS: Yes, on most glossy and coated surfaces, plus paper, envelopes, junk mail, and prescription labels. Give the ink 10 to 15 seconds to dry on slick surfaces; it is instant on paper. Results vary by coating.
- IS IT REFILLABLE: No, and that is the point. The Advanced Roller is pre-inked and sealed, so there are no refill cartridges to buy, no ink bottles to handle, and nothing to dry out on the shelf. When one runs out, reach for the next roller.
- SHREDDER OR ROLLER: No jams, no paper dust, no noise, and the page stays intact and recyclable. Covers boxes and shipping labels a shredder cannot. Faster than a redacting marker, fits in a drawer. Turquoise, Green, White: mail, office, parent.
- Approximately 6.5 million people: a figure previously disclosed by Infosys for the broader affected population.
- 6,078,263 individuals: the number identified in a notice filed with the Maine attorney general.
- Approximately 3.7 million people: the number described by the official settlement website as having received individualized statutory breach notices.
These numbers should not be treated as interchangeable. The broader incident population, a state reporting figure, and the group receiving individual notices may differ because they serve different legal and administrative purposes.
Organizations identified in reporting as connected to affected data included Bank of America, Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company, American Express, and Oceanview Life and Annuity Company. American Express reportedly told some customers that card information had been exposed through the McCamish incident while stating that its own systems had not been compromised.

These amounts are not guaranteed. The gross fund must cover valid claims, administration, attorneys’ fees, monitoring, and other permitted expenses. The estimated $30 payment can change based on participation and the total amount of approved claims.
Documented-loss claims generally require proof. People seeking reimbursement should preserve bank records, receipts, fraud reports, correspondence, account statements, and other documents showing the loss and its connection to the incident.
Who may qualify?
The settlement class is defined by the court-approved agreement and generally covers U.S. residents whose personal information was compromised in the McCamish data breach, including the approximately 3.7 million people who received individualized statutory breach notices.

Eligibility does not arise merely from using an Infosys product. It depends on whether the person’s information falls within the settlement’s class definition. Potential class members should review the official materials rather than relying solely on media coverage or an assumption that a particular financial company’s customers were all affected.
How to check eligibility or claim information
- Go to the official Infosys McCamish settlement website.
- Review the official FAQ and the settlement documents.
- Use the administrator’s instructions to determine whether you are included and whether a claim or monitoring request is available.
- Gather documentation before submitting a claim for monetary losses.
- Use only contact details and links published by the official settlement administrator. Do not provide payment or sensitive information in response to unsolicited messages.
Do not assume that receiving a breach notice automatically creates a cash payment. Monetary benefits generally require a valid claim, and the settlement website should be checked for current claims-administration and payment information.
Is the settlement final?
Status reported as of August 18, 2026
Infosys’s later filing states that the court granted final approval on December 18, 2025. The official settlement website should still be checked for current claims-administration or payment updates because some homepage language appears not to have been updated after final approval.
The later filing is the strongest source in the supplied record for the final-approval date. The website’s older language saying final approval had not yet occurred should not be used to describe the settlement’s current legal status without qualification.

- It does mean: the court-approved agreement provides a framework for resolving the covered claims and distributing benefits from the settlement fund.
- It does not mean: a court found McCamish liable for the alleged harm. The parties resolved the allegations without an admission of liability.
- It does not mean: all affected people receive the same payment or benefit.
- It does not mean: the advertised cash estimate is guaranteed.
- It does not mean: every Infosys system was breached.
An eligible person who does not opt out may be bound by the judgment and release of covered claims, according to the settlement FAQ. Anyone considering opting out or objecting should read the court-approved documents and obtain legal advice about their individual circumstances.

Why the case matters for vendor-risk management
The case illustrates the financial and legal concentration risk created when a service provider stores or processes sensitive information for multiple financial-services organizations. Outsourcing the technology does not automatically outsource the customer’s regulatory, notification, litigation, or reputational exposure.
Reduce the data held by vendors
Data minimization limits the consequences of a compromise. Organizations should periodically ask whether a provider needs full Social Security numbers, payment details, credentials, medical information, or other high-risk data—and whether retention periods can be shortened or records tokenized.
Make contracts operational
Vendor agreements should address security standards, audit rights, subcontractor controls, breach-notification deadlines, evidence preservation, cooperation with investigations, cyber-insurance requirements, and responsibility for forensic, notification, and response costs. A contractual promise is not a substitute for verifying that controls work in practice.
Assess access and recovery controls
Due diligence should cover multifactor authentication, least privilege, privileged-access management, network segmentation, encryption, credential rotation, endpoint monitoring, backup isolation, and tested restoration procedures. Ransomware resilience depends not only on preventing access but also on recovering critical systems without allowing attackers to reach backups.
Exercise the joint response plan
Customers and providers should know who leads forensics, who preserves evidence, who makes notification decisions, how affected data is identified, and how updates are communicated. Tabletop exercises can expose gaps before an incident forces multiple organizations to coordinate under time pressure.
Treat insurance as a funding tool, not a substitute for controls
Infosys disclosed a $17 million insurance reimbursement receivable against the $17.5 million settlement expense. That accounting disclosure does not mean claimants will receive $17 million from insurance, nor does insurance eliminate operational, legal, or reputational consequences. The filing also indicated that additional indemnity or claims costs could remain indeterminable.
Bottom line for affected consumers
The Infosys McCamish settlement is a finalized $17.5 million resolution of litigation arising from a 2023 ransomware incident at a financial-services technology provider. Potential benefits include documented-loss reimbursement, credit monitoring, identity-theft insurance, and a variable residual payment—but none is an automatic or guaranteed amount. Check the official settlement website and documents for the current administrator status, preserve proof of losses, and be alert for scams.
