A dual-monitor KVM switch lets two computers share two monitors, a keyboard, a mouse, and sometimes other USB devices. The right choice depends on the video outputs your computers can provide, the inputs on your monitors, and the resolution and refresh rate you need on both screens at once. The manufacturer documentation available for this guide supports a shortlist of five candidates—not a verified ranking of 15 tested products—so the models below are presented as options to investigate, not as a “best” ranking.
What to look for in a dual-monitor KVM switch
A KVM routes existing video signals; it does not automatically add display outputs your computer lacks. Some products combine KVM switching with docking features, but a laptop still needs to support the required display connections and modes. Before choosing a model, check:

- Computer video outputs: Confirm that each computer can feed two independent video signals in the connector types the KVM requires. A USB-C port is not necessarily a video output; the host must support the needed display mode.
- Monitor inputs: Match the KVM’s outputs to your monitors, or verify that any adapters support the resolution and refresh rate you intend to use.
- Simultaneous display performance: Look for the maximum resolution and refresh rate when both monitors are connected and active. A title or specification mentioning 8K does not establish that two screens can run at a particular mode together.
- USB ports and data speed: Count the shared ports and check whether they are USB 2.0, USB 3.x, or a mix. HID ports intended for keyboards and mice are not equivalent to higher-speed hub ports.
- Switching and EDID: Check whether switching is by button, desktop controller, hotkey, or mouse, and whether the exact model provides EDID emulation. EDID behavior can affect how computers detect displays during switching.
- Laptop power and docking: Confirm whether the product actually provides power delivery or docking functions, and what cables, adapters, or a separate dock are needed.
Documented dual-monitor KVM candidates
The table summarizes distinctions stated in the cited manufacturer material. These are not results from comparative hands-on testing. Where the cited documentation does not establish a value for the exact model or simultaneous configuration, it is marked “not stated” rather than inferred.
| Candidate | Computers and video connections | Display performance | Shared USB and controls | EDID, docking, and setup notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StarTech P2DD46A2 | Two DisplayPort computers; two DisplayPort monitors. | StarTech describes support for up to two 4K 60Hz displays. See the official P2DD46A2 product page for the configuration details. | Two USB 5Gbps hub ports and two USB 2.0 HID ports; button and hotkey switching; audio. | EDID emulation, laptop power delivery, and required cable inclusions: not stated in the cited product summary. Confirm the exact setup and GPU outputs before buying. |
| UGREEN 2-computer/2-monitor DisplayPort KVM | Two computers must each provide two DisplayPort video signals and USB-A, according to UGREEN. | The product page advertises 8K@60Hz and high-refresh 4K modes, but the cited information does not establish every dual-screen simultaneous mode. Verify the intended mode on the UGREEN product page for the exact model. | Four shared ports: three USB-A and one USB-C. Switching by one-button or desktop controller; no hotkey switching is stated. | UGREEN states there is no EDID emulation. A computer with HDMI or USB-C outputs may need a compatible dock or conversion path; confirm adapters, host support, and display mode individually. Power delivery and included cables: not stated. |
| TESmart dual-monitor families | TESmart’s guide lists HDMI (HKS), HDMI plus DisplayPort (HDK), DisplayPort (DKS), and hybrid HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C (HDC) options, with model examples. | The guide’s series-level figures are Lite: 4K30; Elite: 4K60 or 2K120; Prime: 4K60 or 2K120; Master: 8K60 or 4K144. These are guide values, not proof of a particular simultaneous dual-monitor mode on every model. | USB data tier is listed by series: Lite and Elite use USB 2.0; Prime and Master use USB 3.0. Specific port counts and switching controls vary by model and are not stated for every option in the cited summary. | EDID, laptop power delivery, and cables/adapters are not established across the family. Use TESmart’s selection guide, updated July 1, 2026, then verify the exact model page and simultaneous display support. |
| AV Access KD-E10 and related family | The product page includes a family comparison with two-monitor configurations and varying input/output combinations. The cited information does not safely assign every listed configuration to KD-E10 itself. | Resolution and Windows/Mac display modes vary by comparison-table model; confirm the KD-E10 column and the exact mode for both active displays on the AV Access product page. | USB peripheral-port details vary by family entry; the cited summary does not establish a single set of counts for KD-E10. Switching controls: not stated in the cited summary. | The comparison includes EDID support differences by configuration. Docking functions are part of the product-family positioning, but exact power delivery, included cables, and KD-E10-specific values must be confirmed on its model page. |
| Tripp Lite B006-DP2UA2 | Two DisplayPort computers and two DisplayPort displays. | The specification sheet lists up to 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) or DCI at 60Hz for two DisplayPort monitors. | Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, audio, and front-button, hotkey, or mouse switching. | EDID emulation, laptop docking/power delivery, and included cables: not stated in the cited summary. The manufacturer specification sheet hosted by Mouser lists older Windows and macOS requirements; confirm current operating-system support and availability. |
How to decide whether a KVM will work with your computers and monitors
- Write down the outputs on each computer. Include the exact video connector or supported USB-C/Thunderbolt display capability. Do not count a port as a display output solely because it is USB-C-shaped.
- Check whether each computer can feed two screens at once. For a dual-DisplayPort KVM such as the UGREEN example, UGREEN says each computer needs two DP video outputs plus USB-A. A laptop with only one suitable output may need a compatible dock or a verified conversion arrangement.
- Match the KVM’s computer-side inputs and monitor-side outputs. HDMI, DisplayPort, mixed-port, and USB-C/hybrid models are not interchangeable without checking signal compatibility. Adapters can introduce limits, so validate their supported modes as well.
- Verify the target mode for both monitors together. Compare resolution and refresh rate for the simultaneous configuration you plan to use—not just the largest single-display figure in the product title.
- Check peripherals and switching behavior. Make sure the model has enough shared USB ports for your keyboard, mouse, storage, camera, or other devices, and choose a switching method that fits your workflow.
- Confirm what the box and host must supply. Check whether the KVM includes the needed video and USB cables, whether your laptop needs a dock, and whether the setup requires external power or supports laptop charging.
Why this is a shortlist, not a verified “15 best” ranking
The cited manufacturer material provides useful specifications for these candidates, but it does not establish 15 exact models with current availability, complete model-by-model simultaneous dual-display specifications, and comparable test results. Nor does it document independent testing of switching reliability, image quality, or compatibility across computers. Calling 15 products the “best” would imply evidence that is not available here. Check exact suffixes and current manufacturer documentation before purchase; product specifications and stock can change.
