They span three different body styles, and their resale figures come from different study periods and methods.
What the resale figures do—and don’t—show
Resale percentages are useful only when you know what period and method they describe. iSeeCars’ 2026 depreciation study examined more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold from March 2025 through February 2026. The model figures below are five-year retained-value results from iSeeCars’ 2026 hybrid rankings. They do not create a verified ranking of ten models against a single SUV comparison group. A separate Edmunds analysis of used 2023 SUVs found that the RAV4 Hybrid retained 81.4% of its original value after three years; that shorter-period result should not be compared directly with five-year figures. These are different vehicles for different jobs: the RAV4 is an SUV/crossover, the Sienna is a passenger-focused minivan, and the Corolla Hybrid is a sedan. Their retained-value percentages do not account for the price, mileage, condition, equipment, or local demand of a particular used listing.

Seven other candidates to compare—not a verified resale ranking
The available evidence does not provide comparable five-year retention figures for seven additional hybrids. Kelley Blue Book’s resale awards offer broader corroboration for some nameplates, but they are projections for new 2026 model-year vehicles over their first five years, not observed resale results for used hybrid trims. Its 2025 announcement named the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 among the top-ten award winners; that does not establish hybrid-specific retention. Use these seven as a shortlist for checking actual local listings, not as proven winners or as a numerical order. Confirm that the specific vehicle is a hybrid rather than a conventional gas model or plug-in hybrid, and compare it with vehicles that meet the same needs.

How to compare actual used-hybrid listings
Match the evidence to the car
- Compare the same model year, mileage range, region, trim, and condition when possible. A national average or retention percentage cannot predict an individual offer.
- Check the asking price and vehicle history as well as the percentage retained. A vehicle can hold value well and still be overpriced.
- Use the EPA fuel-economy rating for the exact model year and trim rather than assuming all versions perform alike.
- Review safety information and reliability evidence for the particular generation and vehicle, not only the brand’s reputation.
Check hybrid-specific ownership details
- Confirm whether the listing is a conventional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid; their charging needs and use cases differ.
- Ask for maintenance records and have the vehicle inspected. A resale statistic does not describe the condition of the battery or other components in a specific car.
- Check remaining factory coverage and the exact certified pre-owned (CPO) warranty terms. Coverage varies by manufacturer program and vehicle, so do not assume every CPO hybrid gets the same protection.

Start with the three models that have stated five-year figures, then choose alternatives by body style, passenger and cargo needs, budget, and the condition of the cars available near you. Treat the RAV4 Hybrid’s percentage cautiously because the iSeeCars figures surfaced in the available material conflict. For every candidate, compare like-for-like listings and verify the specific vehicle’s history, efficiency, safety information, and warranty before deciding.
