The Toyota GR86 leads iSeeCars’ 2026 sports-car resale ranking, retaining 88.5% of its value after five years in that study. But there is no single, apples-to-apples top-ten ranking: iSeeCars reports observed depreciation in different vehicle samples, while Kelley Blue Book’s 2026 awards project resale values. The ten cars below are a cross-source shortlist of models with notable recent resale results—not a guarantee of what any particular car will sell for.
How to read sports-car resale figures
Resale value is not a fixed trait of a nameplate. It depends on the vehicle’s age, mileage, condition, location, model year and configuration, as well as how a source defines its sample or makes its projection. The figures below are U.S.-market results and should be read with their source and method attached.

iSeeCars’ sports-car ranking examines five-year depreciation across more than 3 million vehicles. Its separate depreciation study analyzes more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold from March 2025 through February 2026. Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards are projections for 2026 model-year vehicles. Those approaches can help identify candidates, but they do not create one harmonized ranking.

This shortlist combines the models highlighted in the two iSeeCars studies and KBB’s 2026 awards. The table keeps observed results separate from projections; a blank result is described as not stated rather than inferred.

What stands out among the ten
GR86 leads the iSeeCars sports-car list
The GR86’s 88.5% five-year retention in iSeeCars’ 2026 ranking is 16.6 percentage points above that ranking’s 71.9% sports-car average. This is a result for the vehicles and method in that study, not a prediction that a newly purchased GR86 will retain exactly that share.
718 Cayman, 911 and Corvette rank strongly in a separate study
iSeeCars’ study of five-year-old used vehicles found 9.6% depreciation for the 718 Cayman, 11.1% for the 911 and 18.7% for the Corvette. These figures describe its sampled used-car sales, not guaranteed outcomes for new purchases. KBB separately included the 911 and Corvette in its 2026 overall top ten, with projected five-year resale values of 53.9% and 54.0%, respectively.

GR Supra earns KBB’s sports-car award
KBB named the 2026 GR Supra its Sports Car award winner and projected a 56.0% five-year resale value. In the same awards, KBB said the average 2026 model-year vehicle would retain about 45% of its original value after five years. These are KBB projections, not observed sale prices or a promise for an individual Supra.

Retention and depreciation are related but source-dependent measures. A ranking may compare a particular body style against other sports cars, a used-car study may measure vehicles sold during a defined period, and an award may estimate future residual values. Differences in sample, trim, body style and model years can change the result.

The 911 illustrates the problem. iSeeCars’ model page reports 5.3% five-year depreciation and a $128,274 resale value, while its luxury sports-car ranking says a 911 coupe retains 94.7% and gives a $169,660 average price for five-year-old models. Those figures come from different pages and scopes; they should not be merged into one settled estimate or treated as interchangeable.

How to use this list when buying
- Compare the same model year and body style where possible; a coupe and convertible, or one trim and another, may not retain value alike.
- Check the mileage, condition and local market for the specific car. A model-wide statistic cannot price an individual vehicle.
- Use the source’s measure correctly: a historical depreciation result describes its sample, while a residual-value award is a projection.
- Build your own ownership estimate from purchase price, expected resale proceeds and the period you plan to keep the car. Value retention alone does not account for financing, insurance, maintenance, fuel or taxes.
- Recheck current listings and valuation data near the time of purchase or sale; rankings and market values can change.
