For U.S. shoppers, seven 2026 model lines have a starting trim below $25,000 when destination is included, according to Cars.com’s April 28, 2026 comparison. The list below covers those seven, then adds three clearly marked alternatives that meet a base-MSRP threshold but are not confirmed under $25,000 after destination. These are starting prices—not out-the-door quotes; taxes, title, license, dealer fees, options and local pricing can raise the amount you pay.
How to read this under-$25,000 list
To make the main comparison consistent, the first seven vehicles are 2026 models with entry-trim prices that Cars.com reports include destination. The final three are separate additions because their cited prices use a different basis or model year. A base MSRP below $25,000 does not establish that the vehicle remains below the cap once destination is added.
Prices identify a specific entry trim, not every version of a model. The seven-vehicle comparison includes compact sedans and subcompact crossovers. Cars.com reports that none has an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration below $25,000; the Nissan Kicks offers AWD, but its AWD starting price is above the limit.
The seven 2026 models below $25,000 including destination
| Vehicle and qualifying trim | Starting price, including destination | What stands out |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 Hyundai Venue SE | $22,650 | Lowest starting price in the comparison; subcompact crossover, front-wheel drive (FWD) only, 121 hp and 31 mpg combined. |
| 2026 Chevrolet Trax LS | $23,495 | Subcompact crossover, FWD only, 137 hp and 29 mpg combined. Edmunds praised the interior space relative to its tidy proportions. |
| 2026 Kia K4 LX sedan | $23,535 | Compact sedan; qualifying naturally aspirated trims have 147 hp and 33 mpg combined. Edmunds noted generous rear legroom and standard features. |
| 2026 Nissan Sentra S | $23,845 | Redesigned for 2026; 149 hp and 33 mpg combined. Edmunds noted comfortable seating and a large trunk. |
| 2026 Hyundai Elantra SE | $23,870 | Compact sedan with 147 hp and 35 mpg combined; reviewed coverage noted a roomy cabin and trunk. |
| 2026 Nissan Kicks S FWD | $24,275 | Subcompact crossover with 141 hp and 31 mpg combined in FWD form. AWD starts at $25,775, above the cap. |
| 2026 Toyota Corolla LE sedan | $24,320 | Compact sedan with 169 hp and 35 mpg combined in Cars.com’s comparison. Toyota lists 32/41 mpg city/highway for the 2026 Corolla. |
Prices, horsepower and combined fuel-economy figures in the table are from Cars.com’s 2026 comparison. The Toyota city/highway figure is from Toyota’s current 2026 Corolla page. Edmunds observations are attributed evaluations, not independent testing for this article. Cars.com’s 2026 under-$25,000 comparison; AP’s Edmunds-based assessment; Toyota Corolla.

Three more candidates that need a price-basis caveat
These options help make a ten-vehicle shortlist, but they are not verified as under $25,000 including destination. Check the current full price for the exact trim before treating any of them as within budget.
| Vehicle | Reported starting price and basis | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 Mazda3 Sedan | $24,650 base MSRP before destination and fees, per Mazda North American Operations’ May 4, 2026 release. | Destination and other charges may push it over $25,000. |
| 2026 Toyota Corolla Hybrid | $24,975 base MSRP on Toyota’s under-$25,000 page. | The page does not establish that destination is included. Toyota reports up to 53/46 mpg city/highway and available AWD. |
| 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback | $24,780 base MSRP on Toyota’s under-$25,000 page. | Toyota labels it a 2027 model and reports up to 32/41 mpg city/highway; destination inclusion is not established. |

Which type of small vehicle fits your needs?
Choose a sedan for compact-car practicality
The K4, Sentra, Elantra and Corolla are compact sedans. Edmunds highlights the K4’s rear legroom and standard features, the Sentra’s comfortable seating and large trunk, and the Elantra’s roomy cabin and trunk. The Corolla’s listed 35 mpg combined ties the Elantra for the highest combined figure among the seven in Cars.com’s comparison. These are useful points to compare in person, especially if adults regularly ride in the back or you carry bulky luggage.
Choose a crossover shape for a taller seating position
The Venue, Trax and Kicks are subcompact crossovers. The Venue and Trax are FWD-only in this price group. Edmunds notes useful controls and an 8-inch screen with wireless smartphone integration in the Venue, and a spacious-feeling interior in the Trax. The Kicks is the only one of the seven with an AWD option, but that version starts above $25,000; its qualifying price is for the FWD S.

Compare economy and performance in context
Cars.com’s reported combined fuel economy spans 29 mpg for the Trax to 35 mpg for the Elantra and Corolla among the seven qualifying models. The figures are not a guarantee of real-world mileage: driving style, traffic, weather and configuration affect fuel use. The Corolla Hybrid’s Toyota-reported maximum of 53/46 mpg city/highway is a separate figure and its destination-inclusive price is not established on the cited page.
How to keep the purchase within your budget
- Set the price rule. Decide whether your $25,000 ceiling means vehicle price including destination or total out-the-door cost. This article’s main seven-model list uses destination-included starting prices, not total transaction costs.
- Confirm the exact trim and drivetrain. An entry trim’s price does not apply to higher trims or optional equipment. For the Kicks, AWD raises the cited starting price to $25,775.
- Ask for a written, itemized quote. Have the dealer identify the vehicle, destination, options, dealer fees, taxes and registration costs separately. A starting MSRP is not a final purchase quote.
- Compare the equipment you will actually use. Check standard safety and infotainment features, seat and cargo space, and powertrain feel on the exact trim. The cited sources do not establish a comparable safety-rating or reliability ranking for this shortlist.
- Check local availability and price. Confirm that the trim is available in your area and that the quoted price has not changed. The listed figures are published starting prices, not guarantees of local inventory or transaction price.
What the shortlist means for shoppers
If the limit is strictly $25,000 including destination, the source-backed 2026 comparison contains seven model lines, led by the Venue SE at $22,650. The other three candidates belong on a watch list rather than a confirmed under-budget list because their cited prices are base MSRP figures or, for the Corolla Hatchback, a 2027 model-year price. Choose among the qualifying models by body style, passenger and cargo needs, equipment and the full local quote—not by headline price alone.
