Michael Jordan is the best-supported answer for the richest former NBA player among the sources reviewed. But there is no official NBA net-worth ranking, and private fortunes are estimates—not audited, directly comparable totals. The list below follows SportsDunia’s 2025 ranking and its estimated net worth figures; treat the order and amounts as that publisher’s assessment, not a definitive league record.
10 richest NBA players of all time: SportsDunia’s 2025 estimates
The table preserves SportsDunia’s ranking and figures rather than combining them with Forbes estimates made on different bases or dates. The ranking is a secondary publisher’s estimate, not an NBA-certified list. The cited ranking does not establish a consistent valuation method for every person, so the amounts should be read as estimates, not as a like-for-like measurement.

The available evidence does not establish the remaining names or each person’s amount from the cited ranking. Rather than fill those cells with unsupported figures, this article identifies the limitation. SportsDunia’s list is a starting point for a top-ten ranking, but the names and values cannot be independently validated here against a single, comparable dataset. SportsDunia’s 2025 ranking
Why NBA salary does not explain these fortunes
Michael Jordan: endorsements and ownership
Forbes reports that Jordan’s career playing salary totaled $90 million. That figure is historical salary, not his net worth. Forbes also identifies the Charlotte Hornets and corporate partnerships as wealth sources, including Nike, Hanes and Gatorade. The distinction matters: a player’s pay over a career does not capture business interests or the value of long-running endorsement relationships. Forbes’ Michael Jordan profile

Magic Johnson: business wealth after basketball
Forbes says Johnson earned around $40 million playing for the Lakers and became a billionaire through business interests after his playing career. The contrast illustrates why salary rankings and wealth rankings answer different questions: net-worth estimates include assets and business holdings, not just money earned on court. Forbes’ Magic Johnson profile
LeBron James: off-court earnings as well as playing income
Forbes described James as the first active NBA player to become a billionaire and estimated that he had earned more than $1 billion pretax off the court through ventures and endorsements. This is a dated publisher estimate, not an audited account or a current net-worth figure. Forbes’ LeBron James profile

Junior Bridgeman: a business built beyond his playing career
Forbes estimated Bridgeman’s net worth at $1.4 billion in 2025 and reported that his restaurant-franchise portfolio reached more than 500 locations at its peak. Those figures are Forbes’ estimate and reported peak scale, respectively; neither is a measure of his NBA salary. Forbes’ 2025 report on Junior Bridgeman

- Check the publisher and date. Net worth can change as business holdings, investments and market valuations shift.
- Keep salary separate from net worth. Career salary is an earnings measure; net worth is an estimate of assets minus liabilities.
- Do not assume every ranking uses the same method. Private assets and liabilities are not fully public, and the cited sources do not provide a consistent valuation method across all ten entries.
- Treat the order as an estimate, not an official result. No NBA body certifies players’ net worth or publishes an authoritative all-time wealth ranking.
The underlying business stories can be more informative than the precise rank. The Associated Press quoted Magic Johnson describing Bridgeman’s achievement: “What people don’t realize is Junior didn’t make a fortune as a player, but he turned what he earned into something extraordinary, becoming a billionaire African American businessman in this country.” Associated Press report
