There is no substantiated, methodologically consistent ranking of the ten best GPS vehicle tracking companies. For U.S. businesses comparing fleet-management platforms, this shortlist brings together seven providers named in current comparison coverage: Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Motive, Azuga, Teletrac Navman, and GPS Trackit. The order is not a ranking. Available product details are strongest for the first four providers discussed below; verify each company’s current service area, hardware, plan, and contract before choosing.
What a GPS vehicle tracking system can do
Fleet GPS software uses location data to show where vehicles or other assets are. Depending on the provider, product, and subscription, that location view may be paired with dispatch, route history, diagnostics, driver-behavior monitoring, maintenance, fuel analysis, compliance, or safety tools. A feature described by a vendor is not necessarily included in every plan, so compare the actual package being quoted rather than assuming all systems offer the same bundle.
For example, Samsara describes tracking vehicles, trailers, and equipment alongside routing, maintenance, compliance, and fuel or energy tools. Geotab describes live locations, dispatch, alerts, driver-behavior monitoring, reports, and GO telematics devices. Verizon Connect describes near-real-time location views, route history, dispatch coordination, fuel and idling analysis, and reporting.
GPS tracking companies to compare
The companies below are a practical comparison shortlist, not a top-to-bottom winner list. Product descriptions reflect vendor materials where available; they should not be read as independent proof of performance.

1. Samsara
Samsara’s vendor-described platform covers vehicles, trailers, and equipment, and connects tracking with routing and dispatch, vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, ELD compliance, fuel and energy management, and integrations. That breadth may be relevant to fleets looking to evaluate more than location visibility alone. Confirm which functions, devices, and integrations are available in the specific plan and geography being quoted.
2. Geotab
Geotab describes a live fleet map alongside dispatch, alerts, driver-behavior monitoring, and fuel and maintenance reporting. Its system uses GO telematics devices; check the proposed hardware configuration and its compatibility with your vehicles rather than assuming every device or feature works across all fleets.
3. Verizon Connect
Verizon Connect describes near-real-time fleet views, route history, dispatch coordination, fuel and idling insight, and digital reporting. Ask the provider to confirm local availability, the functions included in the proposed bundle, and contract terms in writing.

4. Teletrac Navman
Teletrac Navman’s official site describes GPS fleet and asset tracking and driver data. The available information does not establish feature parity with the more fully documented providers above, so ask for a plan-specific demonstration and feature list for your region.
5. Motive
Motive appears among providers named in comparison coverage and in G2’s broader fleet-management category. The available sources do not support detailed current claims about its GPS feature set, hardware, or pricing; request current product and quote details directly.
6. Azuga
Azuga is also named in comparison coverage and the broader G2 fleet-management category. The available sources do not establish its current plan-level capabilities or pricing in enough detail for a direct feature verdict. Confirm what the quoted service includes.
Rank #3

7. GPS Trackit
GPS Trackit appears in contemporary fleet GPS comparison coverage, but the available material does not substantiate detailed current product claims. Check the provider’s current offering, geographic availability, hardware requirements, and support terms before treating it as comparable to the providers with more documented capabilities.
How to evaluate a fleet GPS system
Build the comparison around your vehicles, operating needs, and full contract cost. “Real time” and headline feature lists are not enough to establish that two proposals are equivalent.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Vehicle and asset coverage: Confirm support for your vehicle types and whether trailers or equipment can be tracked, if needed.
- Location updates: Ask how frequently location data refreshes and what the provider means by “real time” or “near real time.”
- Hardware and installation: Check device type, installation requirements, supported diagnostics ports, and the process and cost for replacing a device.
- Included software: Separate core tracking from paid or optional dispatch, routing, maintenance, fuel, ELD/compliance, and video-safety modules.
- Integrations and data access: Ask which integrations are available for your systems, whether an API or marketplace is offered, and what access to fleet data is included.
- Usability and support: Evaluate driver and manager workflows, onboarding, training, and support arrangements with the people who will use the platform.
- Total contract cost: Get a written quote that itemizes hardware, installation, connectivity, add-ons, contract length, and any other recurring or one-time charges. Compare total cost per vehicle over the same term and with equivalent features—not just a headline monthly price.
- Geography and compliance: Confirm service availability and regulatory fit for every location where the fleet operates.
Why this is a shortlist, not a definitive top 10
The available comparison evidence does not substantiate a consistent, current method for ranking exactly ten GPS tracking companies. G2’s Winter 2024 Fleet Management Grid included Verizon Connect, Motive, Azuga, Samsara, and Geotab among Leaders and Teletrac Navman among Contenders. That grid covers fleet-management software more broadly than GPS tracking, and G2 says its data were collected through November 21, 2023, so it is historical category context—not a 2026 GPS ranking. A Samsara-published comparison report gives satisfaction figures of 84% for Samsara, 76% for Geotab, 74% for Powerfleet, 71% for Zonar, 70% for Motive, 67% for Verizon Connect, and 64% for Azuga. Those are figures published by Samsara, a provider with an interest in the comparison; they are not a neutral independent ranking. The available description does not establish enough methodology to treat the percentages as directly comparable evidence of which vendor is best for a particular fleet. See Samsara’s comparison report.
Another third-party comparison framed around 2026 names Verizon Connect, Samsara, Motive, and Azuga, but its metadata reports an original publication date years earlier. It is useful as a source of provider names and comparison topics, not proof of a current, definitive ranking. Read the comparison.
Quick Recap
What to request before signing
- Ask each provider for a current, written quote based on the same number and type of vehicles, locations, contract term, and required modules.
- Request a vehicle-by-vehicle hardware compatibility check, including installation requirements and device replacement terms.
- Have the provider identify which functions are included, which cost extra, and any limits on integrations or data access.
- Review all one-time and recurring charges, contract duration, renewal terms, and cancellation conditions before comparing total costs.
- Ask for a demonstration using the workflows your dispatchers, managers, and drivers will actually need.
