Its March 2026 results post also put deposits at £6.4 billion and its customer base at 1.7 million. A later company update, dated 16 September 2026, says Zopa serves more than 2 million customers.
From peer-to-peer lender to digital bank
Zopa began as a peer-to-peer lending business in 2005, launched as a bank in 2020 and closed its peer-to-peer lending business in 2021, according to Computer Weekly. The 2025 results show the next phase of that transition: growth in the bank’s reported financial measures alongside a broader set of consumer products.
What Zopa reported for 2025
In a results post published on 19 March 2026 and updated on 2 September 2026, Zopa reported the following figures for 2025:

Zopa’s statement calls the £65 million figure “underlying profit before tax.” Computer Weekly’s 19 March 2026 coverage independently reports £65 million in profit, £377 million in sales and £6.4 billion in deposits, using rounded revenue and a less specific profit label. The underlying and rounded figures should not be treated as identical definitions.

New products widened the consumer offer
Zopa says it launched the Biscuit current account and its Investments product in 2025. The launches represent a move beyond its earlier lending focus, although the information available here does not establish the products’ current rates, fees, eligibility criteria or terms. Check Zopa’s live product disclosures before making a financial decision.
Customer numbers rose after the March results snapshot
The 1.7 million figure belongs to the 2025-results snapshot reported in March 2026. In a company update dated 16 September 2026, Zopa said it served more than 2 million customers. These are dated snapshots, not competing figures for the same reporting moment.

What is known about Zopa’s technology—and what it does not prove
Computer Weekly reports that Zopa builds much of its technology itself, reuses services-oriented architecture and uses Thought Machine technology for the current-account ledger. CEO Jaidev Janardana told Computer Weekly: “The architecture is services-oriented, which means there are a lot of things that we have built for our existing products that can be reused.”
Computer Weekly connects Zopa’s technology expertise and adaptability with its ability to develop a current-account offering. That reporting describes the company’s approach; it does not measure how much of its profit, revenue or customer growth resulted from specific technology choices. The reported performance should therefore be read as company financial results, not as proof of a technology-driven cause.
