A YouTube live stream designed for 24/7 viewing is most enjoyable on a television, not a phone or laptop. The process of getting that stream to your TV depends on which TV and which device you’re casting from, but every method is straightforward.
Why Casting a Live Stream to TV Matters
A 24/7 lofi music channel, documentary marathon, or ambient radio stream is ambience: you want it playing in your background while you work, relax, or sleep. Watching on a laptop or phone feels small and peripheral. On a TV, it becomes environmental: the content fills a wall and your attention naturally flows to it as primary engagement.
For content creators, knowing how to display their stream on a TV is also useful for in-studio monitoring, testing, or showcasing the stream to collaborators without huddle around a small screen.
Keep Your YouTube Channel Live for TV Viewing
StreamNeo lets you turn an owned prerecorded video into an always-on YouTube Live stream without leaving a PC or encoder running. Upload a video and paste your YouTube stream key, then the stream runs in the cloud while your computer stays off.

The technical barrier is nearly zero. Every smart TV, streaming device, and casting technology supports YouTube out of the box. The variation is in which method works best for your specific hardware combination.
Method One: Native YouTube App on Smart TV
If your TV is a 2015 or newer model from Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, or similar, it has a YouTube app built in.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- On your TV remote, find the button for “Apps” or “Smart Hub.”
- Navigate to YouTube and open the app.
- Sign in with the Google account that owns your YouTube channel (or any Google account).
- Search for the 24/7 stream by channel name or channel URL.
- Select the stream and press play.
The stream plays directly on your TV via internet connection. No other device needed. This is the simplest method if your TV supports it.
If the TV doesn’t have a YouTube app, check the model year and TV brand. Most 2015+ smart TVs have it. If your TV is older, skip to Method Three or Four.
Method Two: Google Chromecast or Chromecast with Google TV
Chromecast is a small device (about the size of a thick pen) that plugs into any TV’s HDMI port and connects to your home WiFi. Google makes two versions: the classic Chromecast (about $30) and Chromecast with Google TV ($50, includes a remote and interface).
Setup:
- Plug Chromecast into an HDMI port on your TV.
- Power the device (via USB port on the TV or USB power adapter).
- On your TV, select the HDMI input where Chromecast is connected.
- Follow the on-screen setup: connect to your WiFi network and sign into Google.
- From any phone, laptop, or tablet on the same WiFi, open YouTube.
- Find the cast button (looks like a rectangle with WiFi signal in the corner).
- Select your Chromecast device.
- The YouTube app will mirror to your TV.
Chromecast works from phones, laptops, tablets, and browsers. Once you start casting the 24/7 stream, it plays on the TV while your phone is free to use for other tasks. The stream continues even if you close the YouTube app on your phone (the TV does the playback; your phone just sent the stream address).

Chromecast with Google TV is more integrated: the TV interface appears on the TV itself, and you navigate YouTube using the remote, which is more convenient for long-term ambience viewing.
Method Three: Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV
Fire Stick is Amazon’s competitor to Chromecast. It plugs into HDMI and connects to WiFi.
Setup:
- Plug Fire Stick into an HDMI port and power it.
- Connect to WiFi through the on-screen setup.
- Sign into Amazon Prime (the Fire Stick is integrated with Amazon’s ecosystem).
- Install the YouTube app from the Amazon Appstore (search “YouTube”).
- Open YouTube, sign in with your Google account.
- Search for the 24/7 stream.
- Press play on the TV remote.
The stream plays directly on the Fire Stick, no mirroring required. Fire Stick also supports AirPlay (from Apple devices) if you prefer that method.
Fire TV is Amazon’s more integrated version, built directly into select TVs from TCL, Insignia, and Sony. The setup is the same: YouTube app from the Appstore, search the stream, play.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Roku is another standalone streaming device (about $25-40) that plugs into HDMI and WiFi.
Setup:
- Plug Roku into HDMI and power it.
- Connect to WiFi.
- From the home menu, select “Streaming Channels” or “Channel Store.”
- Search for and install “YouTube.”
- Launch YouTube, sign in with your Google account.
- Search the 24/7 stream.
- Press play.
Roku also supports AirPlay from Apple devices and Miracast from Windows devices if you prefer wireless casting from a phone or laptop.
Method Five: HDMI Cable From Laptop or PC
If you have an HDMI cable and a laptop or desktop computer, this is the most direct method.
- Connect an HDMI cable from your laptop/PC to your TV’s HDMI input.
- Change the TV input to the HDMI port you connected to.
- On your laptop/PC, open a web browser and go to YouTube.
- Search for the 24/7 stream.
- Press play.
- The video plays on the TV directly from your browser.
This method requires the laptop/PC to stay connected to the TV via HDMI cable. It’s useful for testing or temporary setups but not ideal for permanent 24/7 viewing (you’d want the computer on all the time, which isn’t practical).

StreamNeo removes the need to leave that computer connected and running: upload a video, paste your YouTube stream key, and let the stream run in the cloud while the PC stays off. You can then cast the resulting YouTube Live stream to the TV.
Method Six: Apple AirPlay (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
If you use Apple devices, AirPlay is a one-tap method.
From an iPhone or iPad:
1. Open YouTube.
2. Search the 24/7 stream and select it.
3. Tap the AirPlay button (triangle with WiFi bars) in the video player.
4. Select your Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Fire Stick, or AirPlay-compatible TV.
5. The stream plays on the TV.
From a Mac:
1. Open YouTube in a browser.
2. Start the stream.
3. Click the AirPlay button in the macOS menu bar (top right of screen).
4. Select your TV or streaming device.
5. The stream plays on the TV.
AirPlay is Apple’s standard and works seamlessly if your TV or streaming device supports it (most do).
Method Seven: Miracast From Windows
Windows 10 and later support Miracast, which mirrors your screen to compatible TVs and devices.
- Right-click your desktop and select “Display Settings.”
- Scroll down to “Multiple Displays” section.
- Click “Connect to a Wireless Display.”
- Select your TV or streaming device from the list.
- Once connected, open YouTube in a browser, search the stream, and play.
The stream displays on your TV via wireless mirroring. Miracast works on many newer TVs and streaming devices.
Choosing the Best Method for Your Setup
If you have a modern smart TV, use the native YouTube app (Method One). It’s simplest and requires no extra hardware.
If your TV is older or doesn’t have YouTube, buy a Chromecast with Google TV (Method Two) or Fire Stick (Method Three). Both cost $30-50 and instantly make any TV “smart” with YouTube and 24/7 streaming capability.

Optimizing Your TV Viewing Experience
Once the stream is playing on your TV, consider these optimizations:
Audio: If the TV’s speakers are thin, use Bluetooth to connect a separate speaker or soundbar. Lofi music and ambient streams benefit from decent audio quality.
Screen saver: Enable your TV’s screen saver or set sleep timer to protect the screen during long overnight viewing. Some TVs have pixel-shift or screen-off modes for sleep streams.
Display settings: If the stream aspect ratio doesn’t fill your screen, use the TV’s “zoom” or “aspect ratio” menu to adjust (usually Picture Settings on the TV remote).
WiFi stability: For a 24/7 stream to play uninterrupted, your home WiFi needs to be stable. If the stream stutters, move the streaming device closer to your WiFi router or use an Ethernet adapter (available for Fire Stick and Roku).

Why TV Casting Changes the Experience
On a phone, a 24/7 stream is content you check. On a TV, it’s ambience you inhabit. The larger screen, the room-filling audio, and the passive consumption model change how you relate to the stream.
For content creators, understanding that viewers watch on TV is important: your 24/7 stream should be visually interesting at a glance (not just audio-only), have readable on-screen information from a distance, and maintain consistent quality throughout to hold attention even as passive background.
The One Caveat: Internet Reliability
All casting methods depend on a stable internet connection. If your home WiFi drops or stutters, the stream will pause to buffer. For 24/7 ambient viewing (music, lofi, sleep sounds), an interruption is minor. For critical content (tutorials, live events), consider using a wired Ethernet connection on your streaming device if possible.

Most modern streaming devices (Roku, Fire Stick, Chromecast) support wired Ethernet via USB adapter, which provides more stable streaming than WiFi alone.
Watching a 24/7 Stream on TV Is Different
Once you’ve cast a 24/7 YouTube stream to your TV and let it play for an evening, the difference in experience is immediate. The content becomes environmental, something you inhabit rather than watch. For lofi channels, sleep music, documentary marathons, or radio-style streams, that’s the intended experience.
StreamNeo enables this TV experience by handling the streaming infrastructure: upload your video once, paste your YouTube stream key, and the stream runs 24/7 from the cloud, available to cast to any TV, any device, any room. Your computer stays off. The stream runs continuously, recovering automatically if anything interrupts. There is a free 24-hour trial and no card required, which is enough time to upload a video, start the stream, and cast it to your TV to see the full experience.
The casting methods are simple. The real upside is the 24/7 stream itself being always available to cast, play, and enjoy on the largest screen in your home.
