The claim deadline for the YouTube Privacy Settlement passed on January 21, 2026, so ordinary claims are no longer being accepted. The $30 million figure is the total settlement fund—not an individual payment. The class generally covered people in the United States who were under 13 during the relevant period and watched allegedly child-directed YouTube content.
Did your child qualify for the YouTube settlement?
The settlement class generally included people in the United States who, at any time from July 1, 2013, through April 1, 2020, were under 13 and watched content allegedly directed to children on YouTube. These criteria describe the class; they do not establish that a particular person qualified or had a valid claim. The official settlement FAQ lists exclusions, including Google and its related entities’ officers and directors, the assigned judges and their immediate family, settlement class counsel, and anyone who opted out.

The case concerned allegations that Google and YouTube tracked and collected children’s personal data without parental consent. Google denies wrongdoing. The settlement itself is not a finding that a law was broken.
Can you still file a claim?
No. The official claims page says the deadline to submit a claim electronically or by mail expired on January 21, 2026. The FAQ says a valid claim form had to be submitted by that date to request payment. The deadline has passed; the settlement materials do not describe an ordinary late-claim process.

For a class member who was under 18, a parent or legal guardian had to complete and submit the claim. The agreement allowed no more than one claim per class member and required information such as a mailing address, birth month and year, an attestation about watching allegedly child-directed YouTube content during the class period, and an affirmation under oath that the information was true and correct. These are the process terms, not a way to file now that the deadline has expired.
How much is the settlement payment?
The $30 million fund is the gross settlement amount set out in Google LLC’s 2025 settlement terms, not a guaranteed $30 million check for any claimant. Before distribution, the fund is subject to deductions that include notice and administration costs, taxes, court-approved attorneys’ fees and expenses, and service awards. The remainder is to be divided pro rata among people with eligible, valid claims.

The FAQ says the individual payment amount is unknown because it depends on the number of valid claims and the amounts deducted. It does not establish a per-person estimate or a fixed payment amount.
When will payments arrive?
The FAQ ties payment to final court approval and the resolution of any appeals. It does not establish whether those steps are now complete or provide a current distribution date. If you filed a claim, contact the settlement administrator for a status update rather than relying on an estimated payout date.

The settlement agreement states that a check had to be deposited, cashed, or negotiated within 90 days or it would become void. That is a term of the agreement, not confirmation that checks have been issued.

Use the official settlement website or administrator for updates. Do not pay a third party to check eligibility, and be wary of anyone claiming they can reopen the expired deadline.
