The Hornets reportedly received €18 million when he moved to Girona in 2024; whether Watford could earn anything from a later transfer is unknown because no source reviewed confirms a sell-on clause or other retained right.
What could “worth millions to Watford” mean?
The phrase could refer to two different things: the reported fee Watford received when Asprilla left for Girona, or a possible future payment if he is transferred again. Only the first is supported by the available reporting. A future payment would depend on contractual terms that have not been confirmed.
What the reported figures actually describe
| Figure | What it represents | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| €18 million | Reported fee for Asprilla’s move from Watford to Girona in 2024 | Galatasaray’s official announcement in 2026 retrospectively reported the fee; the payment breakdown, including any contingent amounts, was not stated. Galatasaray |
| More than €20 million | Reported amount Watford would accept in negotiations in 2024 | AS reported this on 21 August 2024. It was a contemporaneous negotiating position, not a confirmed final price or current asking price. |
| €14 million | Estimated market value | Transfermarkt, last updated 21 May 2026. This third-party estimate is not a bid, sale price, Watford valuation or amount payable to the club. |
The figures are not interchangeable. The €18 million is a reported past transfer fee; the figure above €20 million describes reported negotiations before that transfer; and €14 million is a later market estimate. None establishes how much Watford might receive from a subsequent transaction.
Asprilla’s club timeline
Galatasaray’s announcement says Asprilla joined Watford from Envigado in January 2022, moved permanently to Girona at the start of the 2024/25 season, and joined Galatasaray on loan in January 2026. The same announcement reported that he had made 50 appearances for Girona, scoring four goals and providing two assists through January 2026. Those are figures for that period, not a current-season total. Galatasaray’s announcement

Could a later move bring Watford more money?
Potentially, but only if Watford retained a sell-on clause or another contractual entitlement when Asprilla moved to Girona. The sources reviewed do not confirm such a clause, and they do not provide contract terms from which a future share could be calculated. Without that evidence, any claim that a later transfer will generate millions for Watford is speculation.
Even if a clause exists, the amount would depend on its wording and the terms of any future deal. The €14 million market estimate does not reveal a likely transfer fee or determine what Watford would receive.
