Xerox’s layoffs are part of a wider restructuring tied to its Reinvention program and integration of Lexmark—not a complete, publicly itemized list of affected employees. Its 2025 annual report says restructuring actions produced about 1,365 net headcount reductions and about $89 million in related worldwide headcount-reduction costs. Separate from those cuts, Xerox announced changes to its operating structure, Print sales model and senior leadership.
1. What do the reported Xerox layoff figures mean?
Xerox’s 2025 Form 10-K reports approximately 1,365 net headcount reductions from restructuring actions during 2025. For comparison, it reports approximately 1,100 in 2024 and 2,125 in 2023. These are net headcount reductions attributed to restructuring actions; they are not a count of every person notified or a location-by-location list of layoffs. Xerox’s 2025 Form 10-K says the October 2025 targeted workforce-reduction action covered all levels and areas of the combined organization after the Lexmark acquisition. It also says actions may be subject to consultation with local works councils and employee representatives, with required notices—including U.S. state WARN notices—to be made at the appropriate time.
The same filing reports approximately 22,900 employees worldwide as of December 31, 2025, about 6,100 more than a year earlier. That year-end total rose primarily because Xerox acquired Lexmark, partly offset by workforce-reduction decisions. It is an employee count at a point in time, not a layoff figure.
2. Why is Xerox reorganizing?
Xerox says its restructuring is intended to reduce and realign costs, consolidate and integrate parts of the legacy Xerox and Lexmark businesses, and support its Reinvention program. The annual report says 2025 restructuring and severance costs included approximately $89 million for worldwide headcount reductions associated with integrating and consolidating the two operations.

The company estimated that its 2025 restructuring actions would generate approximately $115 million in annualized pretax savings beginning in 2026. That is a management estimate, not a reported realized result; Xerox cautioned that actual savings may differ materially. The 2025 Form 10-K provides the accounting context for the figures.
3. What is changing in Xerox’s operating and sales structure?
On February 16, 2026, Xerox announced a redesign of its global Print go-to-market structure, including a unified Xerox–Lexmark sales model and greater regional focus. The company said the new structure was scheduled to take effect in the second quarter of 2026. That announcement describes a plan and its intended benefits; it does not establish whether the changes were implemented as planned or what results followed.

Jacques-Edouard Gueden, Xerox’s Chief Revenue Officer, described the rationale: “Unifying the Xerox–Lexmark sales model allows us to eliminate redundancies, improve efficiency, and increase our ability to deliver value as we sharpen our focus on sustained revenue, profitability, and long-term performance.” This is management’s explanation of the planned design, not independent confirmation that efficiencies have been achieved. Xerox’s February 16, 2026 announcement outlines the plan.
4. How have Xerox’s senior leaders changed?
The leadership changes span 2025 and 2026, rather than one single executive reshuffle:

The 2025 reductions follow earlier operating-model changes. On February 29, 2024, Xerox said employee notifications had begun for previously announced workforce reductions associated with organizational streamlining. Its earlier Reinvention announcement described aligning resources around core print, creating a Global Business Services organization and diversifying revenue. That history provides context, but the 2025 annual report and 2025–2026 company announcements describe the newer headcount figures and organizational plans. Xerox’s February 29, 2024 update and its Reinvention announcement cover the earlier changes.
