Public wage databases estimate Wout Weghorst’s Ajax salary in 2024/25 at about €48,000 a week, while Salary Sport lists him at £76,000 a week as Burnley’s highest earner in 2021/22. Those are estimates from different seasons, in different currencies—not verified contract figures or a like-for-like measure of his pay.
What wage estimates put Weghorst on at Ajax and Burnley
Two databases converge on an Ajax 2024/25 estimate of roughly €48,000 per week. SalaryLeaks gives €48,000 weekly and €2.5 million annually; Capology gives €48,077 weekly and €2.5 million in estimated fixed annual salary. Capology also lists €630,000 in estimated additional compensation, separately from fixed pay. SalaryLeaks’ Weghorst estimate was last updated June 3, 2026; Capology’s Ajax 2024/25 figures distinguish fixed pay from extras.
For Burnley, Salary Sport’s 2021/22 archive lists Weghorst at £76,000 a week and names him the club’s highest-paid player that season. That Burnley estimate is higher in nominal weekly terms than the Ajax estimates, but comparing the amounts directly would ignore the difference in season, currency, and estimation basis.
How Weghorst compares with Ajax’s highest earner
Salary Sport’s Ajax 2024/25 archive names Steven Berghuis as the club’s highest earner, at £62,000 per week (£3,224,000 annually). That is a within-source ranking, not a verified club salary disclosure. The same archive gives Weghorst just £4,400 weekly (£228,800 annually), a sharp outlier against the roughly €48,000 weekly estimates from SalaryLeaks and Capology. Salary Sport’s Ajax table should therefore be read as one database’s estimate, not as a settled figure for Weghorst.

Why the figures are not a like-for-like comparison
- Different seasons: the Ajax figure is for 2024/25; Burnley’s Weghorst figure is for 2021/22.
- Different currencies: Ajax estimates are quoted in euros and the Burnley estimate in pounds. No exchange-rate date or conversion method is supplied here, so converting them would create false precision.
- Different pay categories: Capology separates fixed annual salary from estimated additional compensation. A database’s weekly wage estimate should not automatically be treated as total compensation or guaranteed take-home pay.
- Unconfirmed individual contracts: these are third-party estimates. The figures cited here are not official club disclosures of Weghorst’s contract terms.
What Burnley’s later wage table says—and does not say
Salary Sport’s 2022/23 Burnley archive names Jay Rodriguez as the club’s highest earner that season, at £33,000 a week. That later-season estimate concerns a different squad and period; it is not a direct comparison with Weghorst’s 2021/22 Burnley wage.
