There is no evidence that Palworld is set to shut down by October 2027. As of October 5, 2026, reporting describes the game as having reached version 1.0 in July, with Pocketpair discussing further work on update 1.1. A separate, officially licensed mobile game is also in development. Those signals suggest ongoing activity, but they cannot guarantee the original game’s future or establish its current player count.

What “Palworld won’t exist” could mean

The claim can refer to several different outcomes: the original game becoming unavailable, Pocketpair ending updates, or the wider Palworld franchise ceasing to exist. The available evidence supports none of those as a likely event by October 2027. It instead shows a game that has moved beyond early access and a franchise with a licensed mobile project in development. Neither fact guarantees continued support or commercial success.

For a player deciding whether to keep playing or buy the game, the useful distinction is between a documented shutdown and uncertainty about future support. The cited material contains no announcement that the original game will be removed or that its servers will close.

Why a shutdown prediction does not fit the latest signals

The original game passed its 1.0 release

PC Gamer reported that Palworld reached version 1.0 in July 2026, after more than two years in early access. This release date is supported here by secondary reporting, rather than a first-party release announcement. Reaching 1.0 is not a promise of indefinite updates, but it is inconsistent with treating the game as already abandoned. PC Gamer’s August 14, 2026 report

Pocketpair has discussed more work

GamesRadar+ reported on September 4, 2026, that Pocketpair communications and publishing lead John “Bucky” Buckley said, “Palworld’s not finished. Of course we’re gonna do something more with it.” The report says an update 1.1 was in the works and describes Buckley’s account of 1.0 as a “soft prologue.” That is evidence of plans at the time of the interview, not a guarantee of a particular release date or support schedule. GamesRadar+’s interview coverage

Separately, PC Gamer reported Buckley saying Pocketpair was “not planning to spend a year making a massive update for 1.1.” That limits expectations for the scale of one update; it does not mean that updates or the game itself are ending. PC Gamer’s coverage of the 1.1 comments

The company’s older roadmap is context, not a delivery record

In January 2025, the Palworld Development Team said it would continue updating the game while preparing for official release. The roadmap listed plans including co-op crossplay, transferring Pals between worlds, a World Tree and ending scenario, new content, and optimization and user-experience improvements. It is a dated statement of intended work; it does not independently establish which plans were later delivered. The team’s January 19, 2025 roadmap on Steam

What the lawsuit does—and does not—show

Nintendo announced on September 19, 2024, that it and The Pokémon Company had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in Tokyo District Court the previous day. The companies said they sought an injunction and damages, and their release set out their allegations. Those are claims by the plaintiffs, not a court finding. The announcement does not establish that Palworld will be removed, that Pocketpair will lose the case, or that the game will shut down. The companies’ September 19, 2024 announcement

The lawsuit is relevant uncertainty, but it cannot by itself support a specific prediction about the game’s availability a year from now. Without an established outcome, readers should not treat the filing or requested remedies as proof of a shutdown.

Palworld Online is a separate project

Garena announced on August 3, 2026, that Palworld Online, an officially licensed mobile multiplayer survival game, was in development and scheduled for availability in 2026. The announcement did not provide a launch date and said timing details would follow. It is evidence of activity around the Palworld franchise, not proof that the original PC and console game will receive ongoing support or remain available. Garena’s announcement

What player numbers can tell you

Palworld Entertainment reported more than 25 million total players within one month of release in 2024. That is a historical milestone, not a current player count. No current player-count figure is established by the sources cited here, so it cannot support a claim about the game’s present audience or predict whether it will still be active in October 2027. Palworld Entertainment’s announcement

A grounded outlook for October 2027

On the evidence available as of October 5, 2026, “Palworld probably won’t exist” is too strong. The original game had a reported 1.0 release, Pocketpair representatives had discussed further work, and a licensed mobile project was in development. These facts make an imminent disappearance look unsupported; they do not prove how long the original game will be maintained, how the lawsuit will end, or whether its audience will grow or shrink.

  • Documented: a 1.0 release reported in July 2026 and public comments about further work.
  • Not established: a shutdown date, an end to support, a final court outcome, or a current player count.
  • Separate evidence: Palworld Online concerns a licensed mobile project, not the status of the original game.
