Emirates is reported to be targeting around 110 operational Airbus A380s by the end of 2026. That is a plan reported by Aviation Week in November 2025—not a confirmed year-end result. Emirates’ later annual report listed 116 A380s in its total fleet as of 31 March 2026, but that figure includes aircraft that are not necessarily operational.
How many Emirates A380s are operational?
Aviation Week reported on 11 November 2025 that Emirates president Tim Clark put the airline’s active A380 fleet at 95–96 aircraft and planned to increase it to around 110 by the end of 2026. The report describes a target, not a verified count of aircraft in service on that date. Aviation Week’s report
The available figures do not establish how many Emirates A380s were operational on 31 December 2026. Operational availability can change, and a dated confirmation is needed before treating the target as achieved.
Why does Emirates have 116 A380s if the target is 110?
The figures count different things. The Emirates Group’s 2025–2026 annual report listed 116 A380-800s in its fleet as of 31 March 2026: 78 owned and 38 leased. It is a total-fleet snapshot, not an operational-status report. The reported target of around 110 refers to active aircraft. The annual report said the A380 fleet total was unchanged from 31 March 2025. The Emirates Group annual reports

| Figure | What it counts | Date and status |
|---|---|---|
| 95–96 A380s | Active aircraft, as reported for Emirates | Reported by Aviation Week in November 2025 as the then-current figure |
| Around 110 A380s | Planned active fleet | End-of-2026 target reported by Aviation Week in November 2025; not a confirmed result |
| 116 A380-800s | Total fleet: 78 owned and 38 leased | Emirates Group annual-report snapshot as of 31 March 2026; not an operational count |
| 110 A380s | Aircraft included in a cabin retrofit programme | Programme scope announced by Emirates in 2025; not a count of aircraft being put into service |
Are 110 A380s being refurbished or put into service?
Both figures of 110 refer to separate things. Aviation Week reported a target of around 110 active aircraft by the end of 2026. Separately, Emirates’ cabin retrofit programme covers 110 A380s and 109 Boeing 777s. The retrofit figure is the programme’s scope, not an operational fleet target. How far along is the A380 retrofit programme?
Emirates said on 14 July 2026 that 47 A380s and 53 Boeing 777s had completed retrofits since the programme began in November 2022. It expected around 20 more aircraft to be upgraded by December 2026. Emirates, 14 July 2026

What indicates Emirates intends to keep flying the A380?
Emirates has described cabin upgrades and expanded engine-maintenance capability as part of its continued commitment to the aircraft. These investments provide context for the airline’s long-term plans, but do not confirm that it will meet the reported end-2026 active-fleet target.
Emirates and Rolls-Royce signed a memorandum of understanding for Emirates to perform maintenance, repair and overhaul work on Trent 900 engines powering its own A380 fleet from 2027. Emirates’ Head of Engineering and MRO said the airline planned to operate the type into the 2040s. The MOU and stated intention are not evidence that all planned maintenance capability is already in service. Rolls-Royce and Emirates MOU announcement
