Is LVMH buying Patek Philippe?

Why is Bernard Arnault linked to the rumor?
Arnault is associated with LVMH, whose official portfolio includes a Watches & Jewelry business area. That creates an obvious category overlap with Patek Philippe, but strategic fit alone cannot show that LVMH has considered or pursued a purchase. The available evidence does not identify a competing buyer or a transaction process.
LVMH’s 2024 Universal Registration Document, published in 2025, says the Arnault family group held 49.00% of LVMH’s share capital and 64.81% of its voting rights as of December 31, 2024. Those figures describe the family group’s position in LVMH—not ownership of Patek Philippe or evidence of a plan to acquire it. The filing’s listed transactions involving Bernard Arnault and related companies concern LVMH securities and do not identify a Patek Philippe transaction.
