Why is the restaurant leaving?
KAUZ said it was told the lease was ending and the cost of relocating was too high. The station’s report is the source for that explanation; it is not a published statement from Red Robin corporate management.
Will Red Robin reopen elsewhere in Wichita Falls?
A local employee, Xander Gueli, told the Wichita Falls Times Record News that there were no plans to open at another location. That is an employee account, not a direct corporate confirmation of the restaurant’s future.

What the reported lease dates do—and do not—show
The Times Record News reported that lease records supplied to the newspaper by Forward Wichita Falls showed a 10-year lease expiring October 31, 2026. The same report said the restaurant opened October 17, 2016. The reported lease expiration and the October 4 announced closing date are distinct dates; the reports do not explain the difference.

Red Robin’s June 15, 2026 investor release announced two refranchising agreements covering 86 company-owned restaurants for an aggregate $72.5 million. The company said the transactions were intended to support its First Choice Plan and remained subject to customary due diligence, adjustments and closing conditions. The release does not connect the Wichita Falls restaurant’s lease-related exit to those agreements.
