The company’s latest reported results show modest revenue beside a large net loss, while management has said it will refocus on social media after pulling back from some diversification efforts. Those developments provide context—not proof of the cause of a particular day’s move.
What is Trump Media stock?
Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. trades on Nasdaq under the ticker DJT. The company describes Truth Social as its social-media platform and Truth+ as a streaming platform on its investor-relations site.
The company has also introduced Truth API, a business-to-business subscription data feed offering licensed, low-latency access to publicly available posts from certain Truth Social accounts. Its latest quarterly filing says the service launched on August 1, 2026. Trump Media’s second-quarter filing describes the offering.
How much has DJT fallen?
StockAnalysis, citing S&P Global Market Intelligence, listed DJT at $8.27 during the October 7, 2026 trading session, down 4.39% from the previous close. It listed the October 2 close at $8.91. The $8.27 figure is an intraday observation, not the October 7 closing price. The October 2 closing price and October 7 intraday quote are not like-for-like closing observations, so they should not be treated as a precise close-to-close comparison. That quote documents a decline during the observed session. It does not establish what caused the move; stock prices can respond to many factors, and the cited data supplies no causal explanation.
What the latest results say about the business
The Associated Press reported that Trump Media recorded $1.7 million in revenue and a $238 million net loss in the second quarter of 2026. AP also reported that the per-share loss widened to 86 cents from 8 cents a year earlier. These are reported financial results, not a measure of how much cash the company spent during the quarter. AP said the loss included substantial unrealized losses on crypto holdings, which are not the same as cash expenses. Associated Press report on Trump Media’s second-quarter results

AP reported that the company had more than $400 million in cash and short-term investments and $1.2 billion in bitcoin and bitcoin-related assets at quarter-end. Those balance-sheet figures do not erase the reported net loss, and the net loss should not be presented as operating cash use.
Why did Trump Media stock fall?
The cited market data shows that the stock was down during the October 7 session, but it does not identify a specific trigger. The company’s second-quarter loss, strategy changes, and new data-feed product are relevant business context; the available sources do not prove that any one of them caused the October 7 decline.
Investors assessing DJT can distinguish between three different questions:
- What happened to the quote? The market data records an intraday decline on October 7.
- How did the company perform? AP reported low quarterly revenue relative to the net loss.
- What drove that day’s trading? The cited sources do not establish a specific cause.
What strategy is management pursuing?
AP reported that CEO Kevin McGurn said Trump Media would largely abandon its year-long expansion into businesses including online betting and crypto, and refocus on its social-media mission. McGurn said: “We made the disciplined choice to pivot in order to invest more time and resources in our most important initiatives.” That is management’s stated rationale, not independent evidence that the refocus will succeed.

Truth API is a separate effort to sell access to certain public Truth Social posts. AP reported in August 2026 that McGurn described monthly fees of $60,000 to $100,000 and ten customers at that time. Those customer and pricing details are attributed to AP’s August report; they are not independently confirmed here by a later filing. The filing confirms the product’s launch and general description, not those specific commercial figures. AP’s August 2026 report
