Reuters reported the March contract at $10.74¾ per bushel, up 16½ cents and at its highest level since July. This was a dated futures-market move—not a current soybean price or a recommendation to trade.
What happened to soybean futures?
Reuters reported that March CBOT soybean futures gained 16½ cents to $10.74¾ per bushel on February 4, 2025, reaching their highest level since July. The previous session, February 3, the contract had risen to $10.58¼ per bushel. Reuters’ February 4 report, syndicated by Agriculture.com, gives the 16½-cent gain and $10.74¾ closing figure.
A separate Reuters syndication in Canadian Cattlemen reports $10.75 per bushel and a 16¾-cent gain. The figures differ slightly across the syndicated reports; they should not be combined into a single quote.
Why did soybean futures rise as tariff worries eased?
A month’s delay lowered immediate trade concerns
Traders had worried that anticipated U.S. tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China could disrupt demand for U.S. farm goods. On Monday, February 3, the United States postponed planned tariffs on Canada and Mexico for one month. China announced limited retaliatory tariffs the following day, but those measures did not include soybeans. The developments eased near-term concern; they did not resolve the trade disputes or guarantee stronger soybean exports.

Reuters quoted Ted Seifried, chief market strategist at Zaner Ag Hedge, expressing a contemporaneous market view: “The general feeling is that China is not going to fight too hard on a trade war, or it’s going to get resolved very quickly,” That was his assessment at the time, not an official statement or a verified prediction.
Other factors supported prices, while soyoil limited the rise
Reuters also cited technical buying, a weaker U.S. dollar, drought in Argentina and excessive rain in Brazil as supportive influences. Weather risks in major South American crop-producing countries can affect market expectations for supply. The report also said falling soyoil prices weighed on soybeans, limiting the advance. The tariff delay left Canadian canola able to continue competing, another factor Reuters mentioned in connection with the soyoil slide.

The $10.74¾ quote was the March 2025 CBOT soybean futures contract on a particular trading day. It is not a retail price for soybean products, a current futures quote or a forecast. A futures contract price also does not by itself tell a household what groceries or farm inputs will cost.

- HEIRLOOM VARIETY & HIGH YIELD: Outsidepride soy bean seeds is a robust heirloom strain known for its high yield, producing over 3 bushels per acre more than the popular Manokin variety, making it a valuable choice for maximizing harvest output. This variety is perfect for outdoor gardening enthusiasts looking to optimize their yard space.
- RICH IN PROTEIN & OIL WITH VERSATILE USES: Containing about 18% oil and 38% protein, this soybean variety is perfect for producing high-quality soy bean oil and protein-rich meal. These soybeans can be processed into a wide range of products, including soy milk powder, soy flour, soy protein, tofu, and various industrial non-food products, showcasing its versatility. Ideal for making various soy-based meals such as edamame snacks.
- OPTIMAL PLANTING GUIDELINES FOR MAXIMUM YIELD: For best results, plant soybean seeds at a depth of 0.75 to 1.5 inches, with row spacing between 7.5 and 15 inches, depending on soil type and tillage. This ensures uniform seed placement and optimal growth, adapting well to midwestern states and capturing a significant percentage of non-GMO acres.
- HIGH-PROTEIN ANIMAL FEED: The high-protein fiber left after oil extraction is ideal for animal feed, particularly for poultry and swine industries, which consume over half of the processed soybean meal. This meal is also crucial for cattle, other farm animals, and pets, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrients for growth and development. A great addition to feed mixes for cowpeas and other legumes.
- ECONOMIC AND NUTRITIONAL: As the most economically important bean globally, soybeans provide essential vegetable protein for millions and are key ingredients in hundreds of chemical products. A 60-pound bushel of our soybeans seed yields about 11 pounds of crude soybean oil and 47 pounds of soybean meal. Beneficial for producing shelf-stable goods for long-term use.
